Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
Letters To The Editor

Once again the facts do not fit the narrative. I note that an individual in Tuesday's letter column made some harsh accusations against the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department and Sheriff Rocky Goshert.

Everyone knows that the position of sheriff is one of the most important county offices a person can have. While Kosciusko County is blessed to have several qualified candidates, only one stands apart and is the only candidate who is deserving of being the next sheriff of Kosciusko County, and that is Kyle Dukes.

I write this letter to encourage everyone to vote in the primary election May 8th. There are many things that influence the way we vote, and it is important that you exercise your right to vote.

Kosciusko County government at this time is in sound fiscal condition. They are using, and have been using the best practices to conduct business. The commissioners work for us, the taxpayers.

The office of Sheriff should be filled with a competent person, who should realize the commitment that he or she makes to the people of this great county.

When going to the ballot next week it is important to think about what’s best for our community! Many people are focused on a fresh start with new eyes!

When it comes to politicians vs. statesmen, it is apparent that Curt Nisly is a statesman while his opponent is a politician.

As we draw closer to the May 8 primary elections, our prime interest is in the local Kosciusko County sheriff's race. As we consider the candidates for this office, we are drawn to their past experience and performance in public office with a proven track record of service and accomplishment.

If you run in the Republican Party, you generally believe in the Republican platform. If you were to look at the two candidates for state representative in District 22, you can clearly see that Curt Nisly has done his best to advance the Republican Platform.

I have almost 20 years in law enforcement, with the last 15 years at the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. I have spent most of my time at the department in the patrol division, until recently I moved to the position of jail commander.

I realize that I have a fiduciary responsibility to you, the citizens of Kosciusko County. I have always made decisions as commissioner that are in the best interest of the citizens of our great county, and when re-elected, will continue to represent you well. You can count on it.

As a longtime resident, business owner and Kosciusko County Councilwoman, I am familiar with our area’s challenges and will fight for frugal, local control.

We are writing today in support of our friend, Sheriff Rocky Goshert. We have known Rocky for over 30 years.

I came to Warsaw to teach and coach in 1976. One of the first people I met was Rocky Goshert.

My name is John Sullivan and I would like to share why I believe Kyle Dukes would make a great sheriff.

I retired after 35 years as an educator.

My name is Donald McCune. I have been with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department since 1992.

We are writing in support of Sheriff Rocky Goshert.

I truly enjoy the political process and the election system that we use here not only in  Kosciusko County, but the state of Indiana and the United States of America.

I am strongly supporting Rocky Goshert for sheriff because I think he is clearly the most qualified.

My name is Kristi Bucher and I am supporting Kyle Dukes in the upcoming sheriff's election.

I would like for people to know about Tyler Huffer, who is running for Plain Township trustee.

The words of a candidate running for public office must be carefully scrutinized.

To the great registered voters of Kosciusko County,

My name is Chris Scheeren and I have had the pleasure of serving on the Lakeland Youth Center board with Kyle Dukes for the past three years. His leadership and service are an enormous reason our organization can have such a significant impact on the community, and without him, I have no idea how we would function so effectively.
