Playing its third game in as many days after splitting the first two, the Triton volleyball team hosted Bethany Christian on Thursday night looking to head into the weekend with a win. The Lady Trojans did just that, looking flat out dominant at times as they cruised to a 3-0 sweep for their 13th win of the year.

BOURBON — Nearly one-third of the 2025 Triton Junior/Senior High School varsity football roster was seniors. Of 35 players, a dozen were in the Class of 2026 and 10 of those saw significant playing time for the Trojans squad that went 7-4 overall and 5-2 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference.
A second straight sectional championship for the Triton baseball team did not come to fruition on Monday evening, as the Trojans fell 4-2 to hosts South Central in the title game. The Satellites scored all four of their runs in the third inning, taking advantage of one too many miscues made by the visitors to end the season of one of the top 1A teams in the state.
For the second time in a week, track and field athletes from all over Northern Indiana converged with a spot in the state finals on the line. This time, it was the boys' turn with Warsaw hosting the festivities. With over 40 athletes from five local schools in attendance, there was no shortage of action. When the dust settled, seven of those competitors were able to punch their tickets to the state finals.
The girls track and field season continued its race towards the finish line on Tuesday evening, with 39 area athletes from all seven local schools competing at the IHSAA Regional 2 at Goshen. It was a largely successful night, with eight of those athletes punching their ticket to the state finals.
Fresh off a 28-0 victory over Argos on the road Monday, the Triton baseball team returned to Keller Field for the second leg of a home-and-home. While the score wasn’t as lopsided this time around, the Trojans still only needed five innings to dispatch of the Dragons and pick up a 13-1 victory.
Friday night felt like a whole lot of deja vu for the Triton baseball team, as just one day after securing a five-inning victory over Oregon-Davis in which the Trojans gave up no hits, the blue and gold did so again on Friday, this time at home. Picking up a 14-0 win, the Trojans extended what has been a white-hot start to the season, improving to 7-1, 6-1 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference.
Being a varsity basketball player in the state of Indiana requires hard work and dedication. This past season, no player on the boys side demonstrated that more than Warsaw guard Mydin Burgher, who has been named the Times Union’s 2025-26 Player of the Year for boys basketball.
Leading for the first eleven minutes, the Triton boys basketball team began the 1A state title game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday morning on fire, looking to claim the second state championship in program history. However, their opponent, Barr-Reeve, had other plans. The Vikings put the clamps on their opponents, forcing one of the poorer shooting nights of the season for the Trojans. Barr-Reeve took its first lead of the game in the final three minutes of the first half and never looked back, as the Vikings pulled away early in the fourth to claim their third championship with a 50-37 victory.
The Triton Trojans boys’ basketball team is headed to their fifth state title contest since winning the Class 1A championship on their first try in 2008. It’s easy to forget the 2008 champs were the first of four squads altogether making trips to Indianapolis in late March.
It’s the goal of every player that picks up a basketball in the state of Indiana. It’s a stage where legends are created and dreams come true. It’s the culmination of a lifetime of hard work and sacrifice. It’s the IHSAA boys basketball state finals.
According to Triton head coach Jason Groves, the five seniors on his roster have an incredibly unique opportunity in front of them as they prepare for the 1A state championship game against Barr-Reeve on Saturday.
After rolling through Tri-County 78-46 in the opening round of the 1A semi-state at Lafayette Jefferson’s Marion Crawley Center, the Triton boys basketball team faced a much more difficult challenge in the form of upstart North Vermillion in Saturday night’s championship. In a contest that resembled a heavyweight fight with both teams trading blows and counterpunches, it was the Trojans that emerged victorious with a 51-45 victory to head back to the state finals for the first time since 2013.
Returning to the Marion Crawley Center for the semi-state round for the second straight season, the Triton boys basketball team set its sights on a Tri-County team making its first ever run this deep in the state tournament. The Trojans certainly looked like the more experienced bunch, getting out to a lightning-fast start and never looking back en route to a dominant 78-46 victory that put Triton in the 1A Final Four.
As the Triton boys basketball team prepares for what it hopes are two semi-state games at Lafayette Jefferson High School on Saturday, the group is sporting a new look while doing so.
Picking the pocket of the Blazers’ Vaughn Rael-Kludt with time winding down in a tied ball game, Landon Patrick’s swipe led to a breakaway for Gage Riffle, who laid the ball in as time expired to give the Trojans a 53-51 victory, as well as their second straight regional championship.
Winners of five straight games, as well as the Hoosier North Athletic Conference, the Triton boys basketball team continued its journey towards the postseason with a nonconference game against Rochester at the Trojan Trench on Tuesday. After eight minutes, it looked like those in attendance might witness a classic, but as the game wore on, the Trojans showcased their dominance, pulling away for a 72-39 win.

Still undefeated in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference entering the final month of the regular season, the Triton boys basketball team had the opportunity to begin February with another conference victory on Thursday night. The Trojans made the most of it, trouncing visiting Argos 67-23 at the Trojan Trench.
