Per Coach Bart Curtis:
On Concord — They are an explosive, lethal dynamite team that you know can score on any given play … Now they’ve got the Ferris State Bulldog offense going with some zone, triple option and counter reads … If you go back 14 quarters — and that's a lot of defensive snaps — we've gotten their offense off the field four times in the last 14 quarters, which is three and a half games. Getting them off the field has been an issue for us at Warsaw … They have a really good understanding of what we're trying to accomplish offensively, and always defend us very well … Their personnel is really good … We're going to need to have a great week of preparation.
Former areas of concern — Getting things blocked up correctly, not having bleeding into the backfield, getting into the correct play, picking up blitzing linebackers, those were things that I believe we did a little better job of Friday.
On Plymouth game — We were very businesslike in what we had to do ... There was a lot going on Senior Night. It was also Pink Out Night. Our kids did a really good job of keeping the main thing the main thing … We had no idea it was going to go the way it went. We did not have any indication at all based on what we'd seen from them on film that before halftime we'd be playing our JV kids … I think our varsity played 23 snaps of defense and 25 snaps of offense.

John Glenn (1-6, 0-4 INSC) at Tippecanoe Valley (6-1, 3-0 INSC)

When: Friday, 7 p.m., Smith-Bibler Memorial Field, Akron

Series: Tippecanoe Valley 3-0

Last Outing: John Glenn lost to LaVille 21-8, Tippecanoe Valley defeated Woodlan 43-0

John Harrell’s prediction: Tippecanoe Valley 38-0

Last Meeting: Oct. 10, 2025, Tippecanoe Valley 42-7

About John Glenn: After opening up the season with a 33-7 win over Boone Grove, it has been a stretch to forget for the Falcons. Glenn has dropped its last six games, including its first four contests in the Indiana Northern State Conference. Last time out was a 21-8 loss to LaVille, which snapped a five-game skid for the Lancers. Since the team’s opening game of the season, the Falcons have been held scoreless twice, as well as held to under 10 points two more times. In conference play, Glenn is giving up an average of 27.8 points per game.

About Tippecanoe Valley: The Vikings returned home last week after three straight games, and wins, on the road. Valley got a breather from INSC play by dismantling Woodlan 43-0 in front of the Death Valley crowd. The 43 points were a season high for the Vikings, while the defense came up with its second shutout of the season. Hunter Paxton and Hunter Randall served as the two-headed attack running the ball, with Paxton rushing for 125 yards and two scores, while the Valley QB added 111 on the ground and another pair of touchdowns. Owen Omondi was explosive with the ball in his hands once again, averaging 17.6 yards a carry on his way to an 88 yard night and a score. Randall completed four of his 10 passes for just 10 yards. Since suffering their only loss of the season on September 4 to Adams Central, the team has won four in a row, two by more than five touchdowns, and two by a combined five points. A win on Friday night would clinch at least a share of the INSC for the Vikings, and the team would have a chance to win it outright next week when it travels to Bremen.

Tippecanoe Valley head coach Steve Moriarty:

On last week – I always think there’s room to improve but I think we did a great job taking care of the football. Would still like to cut down on those penalties. I thought our defense did a great job, holding them to under 100 yards.

On his rushing attack – Hunter and Hunter are both so good at finding the hole and making things happen. They run with speed and strength. A lot of credit has to go to their offensive line as well because you need those guys to get two guys over 100 yards rushing. They did a great job communicating and making their blocks.

On nearing the end of the season – You have to keep improving every week. That’s what we’re focused on. We want to be peaking at the right time. We’re taking things one play and one game at a time, but we don’t want to share a conference title. We want to win it outright, and we have to hope that this conference and this schedule has prepared us for the goals that we have afterwards.

Wawasee (1-6, 1-4 NLC) at Plymouth (1-6, 0-5)
When: Friday, 7 p.m., The Rock Pile, Plymouth.
Series (last 40 years): Plymouth, 28-18.
John Harrell’s prediction: Plymouth, 28-21.
Last meeting: Sept. 19, 2025, Plymouth, 21-20.
About Wawasee: Mark Osmialowski’s 4A Warriors beat visiting Goshen 24-3 in Week 7 … The win snapped Wawasee’s 14-game Northern Lakes Conference losing streak and gave first-year coach Osmialowski’s his first win … Kaden Andrew rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns. Johnny Zachary ran for 44 yards and completed 9-of-15 passes for 52 yards and one TD to Jaylen Lowery … Total tackle leaders are Max Pena (11), Dirks Miller (7), Mason Hatfield (7) and Westen Haab (6) … Haab had a fumble recovery and Aidan Beer an interception … On the season, Zachary is 66-of-141 passing for 894 yards and four TD’s with 10 interceptions … Rushing yardage leaders are Andrew (329 and four TD’s), Mason McKibben (160), J’Ceon Evans (92) and Zachary (63 and three TD’s) … Receiving yardage leaders are Lowery (352 on 19 catches with two TD’s), Luke Nettrouer (198 on 15 catches with one TD), Andrew (136 on 11 catches with one TD), Luke Lehman (93 on five catches) and Evans (62 on nine catches) … Total tackle leaders are Haab (51), Pena (51), McKibben (44), Jaxon Brown (32), Beer (31), Lehman (28) and Miller (21) … Fumbles have been recovered by Lowery (2), Brown (1), Haab (1), Lehman (1) and Keny’n Burney (1) … Beer (1) and Hatfield (1) have interceptions … Wawasee carries a 13.9 offensive average and 34.1 defensive average.
About Plymouth: Brett Corbett’s 4A Rockies lost 49-0 at Warsaw in Week 7 … Ryder Goodman passed for 69 yards and rushed for 37. Gradyn Scott had three receptions for 50 yards … On the season, Goodman is 53-of-93 passing for 551 yards and two TD’s with six interceptions … Rushing yardage leaders are Goodman (582 with five TD’s), Owen Verhaeghe (313 with two TD’s) and McKoy Gantz (127 with two TD’s) … Receiving yardage leaders are Scott (255) and Gantz (226 with two TD’s) … Total tackle leaders are Brody Lebo (66), Charles Smith (37), Josh Gibbons (36), MacAzlan Hundt (35), Levi Wright (31) and Dominick Vasquez (31) … Gantz (1), Urijah Cain (1), Manny Galeano Oliva (1), Mason Tillman (1) and Darian Scott (1) have fumble recoveries … Interceptions belong to Gantz (1), Lebo (1) and Scott (1) …The Rockies won the last three meetings with Wawasee … Plymouth had produced a 13.4 offensive average and 24.3 defensive average.
Per Coach Mark Osmialowski:
On Plymouth — The Goodman kid (at quarterback) is a really good athlete, and they like to do a lot of gap scheme runs. They do some motions and some fake meshes and stuff like that in the backfield to try to get your eyes going one way and try to run them back the other way. So we have to see discipline and read our keys and trust where the offensive line is going to take us. And if we do that, then hopefully we'll do a pretty good job of trying to contain him a little bit ... We haven't won two NLC games in the same season since 2017, so that should be some extra motivation for them, and we haven’t won an away game since 2023. Those little things like that should be motivation.
First win — The monkey is off my back, but I’m glad it's a monkey off the kids' backs, too. They've been working hard. You know, when you're 0 and 6, things can go one of two ways: Either you know you can crumble, or you can continue getting better each and every day, and our kids are responding the right way. And that showed up on the scoreboard Friday night. They responded the right way, and they took care of business.
On Goshen game — Our offensive line did a good job of opening up holes for our backs to run through. They did a good job of taking care of their inside guys. There were some blocks on the edge that, if we held for a half second longer, some of those runs could have been really explosive … Dirks Miller and Mason McKibben did a heck of a job trying to take away the dive and the quarterback and our guys were able to rally around that, too … You can play (the option) multiple different ways. But you know we decided to play it one way against Warsaw. We got beat, but we held Warsaw 38 points, which is one of their lowest scoring outputs that we had. We kept pretty much the same game plan against Goshen. We held them off the scoreboard (with the exception of a field goal by Trenton Clark).

Manchester (3-4, 2-3 TRC) at Maconaquah (7-0, 5-0 TRC)

When: Friday, 7 p.m., Maconaquah

John Harrell’s prediction: Maconaquah 63-10

Last Meeting: Oct. 10, 2025, Maconaquah 29-28

About Manchester: The Squires head into Friday’s contest having won their last two games, defeating Southwood 34-24 two weeks ago before handling Whitko 49-8 last Friday. Caden Young led the team in rushing for the second straight week, totalling 121 yards on the ground on just 10 carries, scoring twice. The Braves have scored 40 or more points in all but one game this season, with their lowest point total being 26 against Carroll (Flora). In last week’s narrow 44-42 win over Lewis Cass, Maconaquah was led by quarterback Aiden Robinson, who completed 20 passes for 339 yards and three touchdowns. Robinson has already thrown for over 2000 yards this year, with a remarkable 30 touchdowns to just four interceptions. His top receiver was Nolan Tarrh, who caught 10 balls for 148 yards. Per Coach Andy Barker:
On Pioneer — The thing that sticks out about Pioneer is they're extremely fundamentally-sound. It's almost like Tim Duncan-esque, right? The ‘Big Fundamental’ they called him. It’s the same deal with these guys. If you come and play a clean game, they're going to expose it … Our boys aren't naive. They know the kind of fight that they're coming into on Friday. The message to them: I want them to fight, and we'll let the rest fall where it ends at the end of the game. The boys' spirits have been solid, considering you know a struggling year, but they seem to keep getting up off the turf, and that's hard to find in teenagers these days. I'm proud of the boys for that.
Senior Night — This week is about celebrating our seniors and all the work that they've put in. Each one of those guys (captains Cayden Bradley, Ryder Gayheart, Ashton Jacobs and Christian McIntosh plus Dominique Bradley, Brayden Gunnels and Israel Miller) will get recognized Friday before the game.
On Caston game — Our biggest takeaway from the casting game is that our boys just really need to understand the weight room's importance. At the end of the day, you can do all the right things, but if you don't have the size and the strength to compete then you're going to struggle a little bit … We sound like a broken record every week. It’s back to fundamentals and we’re still working on them.
