Editor, Times-Union:
I write this letter to encourage everyone to vote in the primary election May 8th.
There are many things that influence the way we vote, and it is important that you exercise your right to vote. I want everyone to elect the candidate that is most qualified for the duty they are seeking. It is so important that all government officials are familiar with the policies and procedures that are required to keep the county and townships running smoothly.
I have become quite familiar with how Plain Township works and the time commitment it requires. As a Plain Township board member, I recently voted to lower taxes. You will see a decrease in township taxes at the end of this year. I have also attended township conferences, and I am the only candidate certified in township assistance.
I have enjoyed helping people and being involved with the many things that happen in our community to make it the place it is. It has been a privilege to meet many of our township’s residents and to talk with them about their concerns during this election season.
I have served as a board member for the last four years on the Chapman Lakes Conservation Association. I have been instrumental in getting our association more active around our lake with the creation of our Facebook page, lakewide garage sale, and everyone’s favorite, the golf cart parade.
I have the following goals if elected to serve as the next Plain Township trustee: Continue to provide top-quality volunteer fire and EMS services, seek additional resources to improve our township, be open minded and eager to help the citizens of our township, follow all rules and laws that the State of Indiana has established, create a food pantry, and strive to maintain a low tax rate for the township while continuing to provide top-notch quality service. I also plan on improving the local cemeteries to make them beautiful for those who have lost loved ones.
Please remember to vote Huffer for Plain Township trustee May 8. Thank you for your support.
