AKRON - Though not the most size-imposing player on the court, Nick Kindig continues to come up big for Tippecanoe Valley's varsity boys basketball team.Fresh off a 29-point performance at Knox Friday, the 5-foot-11 junior guard poured in 30 points, pulled down nine rebounds and made three steals Tuesday night, as the host Vikings beat the Lakeland Christian Academy Cougars 61-34.

    NORTH MANCHESTER — In Saturday's 52-40 road win over Manchester, Whitko senior guard Logan Irwin climbed up to No. 34 on the Indiana's all-time scoring list for boys basketball.

CULVER – A change of scenery didn’t hurt Warsaw’s boys and girls cross country teams at all.Realignment by the IHSAA moved the Tigers and Lady Tigers from the Elkhart Central Sectional at Ox Bow Park, where they competed for years, to the Culver Academies Sectional.

   BOURBON — The Whitko baseball team hit the road Tuesday, defeating Triton 9-5 in Bourbon.

WINONA LAKE — As a first-year coach heading a team playing in its first IHSAA state tournament, LCA girls basketball coach Ty Propp is taking things one step at a time.

Whitko got off to a fast start, leading 24-2 after the first quarter, and rolled to a 64-17 win at Peru in the Three Rivers Conference opener for both teams.Aly Reiff outscored Peru by herself, hitting a trio of three-point shots en route to a 24-point performance. Brianna Cumberland hit four shots from beyond the arc and wound up with 16 points. Jennifer Reiff and Haley Yohe had seven points each, and Kennedy Krull added six for the Lady Wildcats.

PLYMOUTH — The champion of the Northern Lakes Conference will be decided by Saturday afternoon, but the Warsaw boys tennis team got off to a good start Wednesday in Plymouth.

Lakeland Christian Academy recently hosted its annual Fall Sports Awards night on its campus in Winona Lake to honor its athletes that competed in soccer, volleyball and cross country.  In attendance were approximately 225 students, coaches, and parents.  LCA Director of Development Scott Wiley said “it’s great to see such a high percentage of our student body being able to participate in athletics. Over the course of a year approximately 80 percent of our student body will participate in a sport at the junior high or varsity IHSAA level.”

WINONA LAKE – The Lakeland Christian Academy girls basketball team opened its season with a 57-23 home loss to Northfield Tuesday night.

The IHSAA Executive Committee approved the new sectional groupings for eight team sports Monday.

SOUTH BEND – Josh McDaniel hit the game-winning shot with one second left in overtime to give Lakeland Christian a 56-55 win at South Bend Community Baptist Tuesday night. McDaniel finished with a team-high 14 points for the Cougars.

HOWE — The Lakeland Christian Academy Cougars ended their regular season with a 57-55 victory at Howe School Tuesday night.

WINONA LAKE — Lakeland Christian Academy will host a basketball camp between July 22 and 24.

FORT WAYNE — The Class 2A No. 2 Warsaw boys soccer team claimed the weekend’s Carroll Tournament in Fort Wayne.

The draw for the Indiana High School boys and girls soccer state tournaments was held Friday morning, and now local teams know their routes.

WATERFORD MILLS – Hannah Delp had 31 points to lead Lakeland Christian Academy to a 64-46 win over South Bend Trinity and a split of its two games in the Bethany Christian tournament Saturday near Goshen.The Lady Cougars fell to the host Lady Bruins 43-33 in the tourney opener.Melissa Goss added 12 points in the Trinity game, and Rachel Sand had 10.LCA (5-6) will host the Lakeland Christian Classic on Dec. 29.

NORTH MANCHESTER – Stephen Danielian played a big part in Lakeland Christian Academy’s win at Manchester Tuesday.Danielian scored three goals and assisted on the other two, as the Cougars beat the host Squires 5-2 in boys soccer action.

WINONA LAKE – The Lakeland Christian Academy boys basketball team opened its season in dramatic fashion Tuesday night at home.

Lakeland Christian Academy had its girls basketball season come to an end.
