FORT WAYNE — The Wawasee boys golf team opened its season with a first-place finish at Saturday’s Fort Wayne Northrop Invitational. Playing on a cold, rainy afternoon at Fort Wayne’s Colonial Oaks Golf Club’s par-71 course, the Wawasee Warriors finished first with a 337. Columbia City was second with a 342, followed by Huntington North (345), Fort Wayne Northrop (351), Whitko (354) and Fort Wayne Canterbury (362). Sophomore Tristen Atwood paced the Warriors with an 81, while senior Luke Jackson shot an 83, senior Dylan Cousins had an 86, sophomore Mason Germonprez finished with an 87 and sophomore Maclain Herr exited the course with an 88. The Warriors host Central Noble at South Shore Golf Club Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. F.W. The Tippecanoe Valley boys golf team finished 10th out of 13 teams at Saturday’s Michigan City Marquette Invitational. Valparaiso won the tournament at the par-72 Michigan City Municipal Golf Course with a 318. Valley finished with a 369, led by Tanner Neeley’s 80, which was the seventh best score of the day. At Saturday’s Caston Invitational, held at Star City’s par-70 Pond View Golf Course, the Lakeland Christian Academy boys golf team finished fourth out of nine teams. LCA finished the tournament with a 376, led by Ross Wallen’s 85. The LCA Cougars are back in action Thursday at Rozella Ford Golf Club against Clinton Christian.
