PERU — Following his team’s 49-40 win at Peru Tuesday, Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball coach Bill Patrick sits two wins shy of No. 700.
In win No. 698, Patrick’s squad trailed 20-16 at the half, but outscored the Peru Tigers 33-20 in the second half, leading to the comfortable win.
Tanner Andrews was the biggest reason for the second-half turnaround, scoring all 18 of his points in the final 16 minutes, while also getting eight rebounds, two assist and two steals.
Also for Valley, Nick Kindig netted 11 and Logan Britton scored nine.
Up next for the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings is their Three Rivers Conference opener at home against Whitko Friday night.

Hosting the Benton Bucks, a team featuring home-schooled students, the Lakeland Christian Academy boys basketball team got a 56-51 win Tuesday night. Snapping a four-game skid, the Cougars were led in scoring by Collin Price and Chris Silveus, as both scored 12, while Calvin Prinsen finished with 10 points, six rebounds and four blocked shots. The 2-4 Cougars will take part in Saturday’s Bethany Christian Tournament, facing Elkhart Christian in the opening game at 10 a.m.

The Warsaw boys swim team got a convincing 144-34 home win over Plymouth Tuesday in Northern Lakes Conference action. Along with winning all three relays, the Tigers also got two individual wins from Spencer Davidson (200 free, 100 free), as well as individual wins from Matt Wildman (200 IM), Ethan Cook (50 free), Dean Katris (diving), Andrew Thrasher (100 fly), Jayden Parrett (500 free) and Joshua Miller (100 back). Tiger Tigers are back in NLC action Saturday at Elkhart Memorial.

Getting double individual wins from four different swimmers, the Wawasee boys swim team breezed to a 141-43 home win over NorthWood Tuesday in Northern Lakes Conference action. In the pool, Zac Hershberger (200 free, 100 breast), Sebastian List (200 IM, 100 back), Luke Smith (50 free, 100 free) and Logan Brugh (100 fly, 500 free) all won two events, while Tristan Mauk won the meter dive and all three relays were victorious. The Warriors host another NLC meet Thursday when Plymouth comes to town.

In Northern Lakes Conference action Tuesday, the Warsaw girls swim team defeated Plymouth 133-42 at home. Winning 10 of the 12 events, Warsaw’s Jessica Sweatland (200 free), Erin Sandberg (200 IM, 100 back), Margot Rheinhardt (50 free, 100 free), Cynthia Juarez (100 fly) and Meghan Boston (100 breast) all finished first, as well as all three of its relay teams. The Lady Tigers travel to Elkhart Memorial Saturday morning for another NLC meet.
