Letters To The Editor

Editor, Times-Union: The Ink Free News recently published an article listing all of the township trustees and contact information. We hope the trustees are ready to help during the government shutdown as stated. From the public information available, many of the smaller township trustee offices do not have regular office hours, so it is important to contact them by phone or email first.

Editor, Times-Union: I just can’t understand why an intelligent woman like Ms. Shutz doesn’t know how a bill becomes a law.

Editor, Times-Union: They used to call crazy people insane. Now they are known as Democrats. The election of Mamdani as mayor in New York City proves that. We have seen centuries of examples of socialism failing. When colonists came to the Virginia Colony over 400 years ago, everyone was expected to share the profits from what they produced and sold with all the colonists. The productive colonists didn't like to share with those that were lazy, so they didn't have a reason to produce as much as they could. But when capitalism was unleashed and people could keep all the profits from their labors, production increased tremendously.

Editor, Times-Union: The 27th Annual Coat Drive for Kosciusko County to benefit people in our community was a huge success. We are so fortunate to live in a caring and giving community. Kerlin Motor Company, Inc., in Silver Lake was the Coat Drive collection headquarters. There were 1,295 coats donated and Combined Community Services was very appreciative.

Editor, Times-Union: I’m not one to respond to other contributor letters, but I just can’t ignore the paid-for-space comment I read in the 10-17-2025 edition of the Times-Union. It would appear there are more members to this left-wing cabal than I thought. I just can’t get over the, school teacher, critique of other people’s letters to the paper! I had thought it was just our colleague, Ms. Schulz, but apparently she really does have “friends” at Winona Lake.

Editor, Times-Union: I agree! No king but King Jesus! But I don’t understand the liberal position, accusing Trump of being a king. How so? Is it because he increases U.S. tariffs to begin to match and equalize the tariffs that each nation is putting on U.S. exports? Is it because he uses tariffs and embargoes to stop wars? Is it for firing federal employees who never came back to office work after Covid? Or for laying off federal workers during a government shut down (which he didn’t create)? Is it because of his executive orders reversing a lot of Biden's policies? Is it for shutting down USAID (thus saving taxpayers millions of dollars in waste, fraud, and abuse) and the Department of Education? Do liberals not realize that the POTUS has the power and prerogative to do these things? Don’t they realize this is what the majority of us U.S. voters voted for? Do they know Trump‘s executive orders have been upheld by the SCOTUS 21 of 23 times? Do liberals only get news from liberal sources – like the mainstream propaganda media?

Editor, Times-Union: The staff and trustees of the Warsaw Community Public Library want to sincerely thank the Friends of the Library for their dedication and support. The Friends have volunteered countless hours, sponsored programs and events, and donated essential equipment and supplies, all of which greatly benefit our library and the community it serves.

Editor, Times-Union: I believe taxpayers would agree it is our right to know what is really going on in our country with our money. Our Constitution authorizes elected officials (federal and state Congresses) to determine how and where and for whom our taxes are spent. Recently we were made aware that the richest man in the world (and the biggest donor to Donald Trump’s campaign in 2024) was given the task to “cut wasteful government spending” at his discretion with the help of a handful of very young, inexperienced IT lackeys. In record time, they cut thousands of personnel, shut down programs and agencies, and proclaimed their work was done.

Editor, Times-Union: I’d like to thank the members of the community who turned out for the No Kings rally in Warsaw on the 18th. What had been maligned by Republicans as the hate America rally, turned out to be a joyful grassroots affirmation of people power.

Editor, Times-Union: Last Friday, House Speaker Mike Johnson stood at a podium and lied about the nationwide No Kings rallies to be held on October 18. He characterized the protesters as people who hate America, pro-Hamas, antifa and terrorists.

Editor, Times-Union: Today I have sent a letter to Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita, in response to comments he made at the Republican Party event at Center Lake Pavilion on Monday, evening, October 6.

Editor, Times-Union: Dear Officer Baker, Warsaw Police Department,

Editor, Times-Union: Do you believe that history repeats? Only you can decide.

Editor, Times-Union: What would be the response of the United States if 21 of our citizens (noncombatants) were murdered by a foreign navy off our shores in four separate incidents? The foreign power says the citizens were transporting drugs, but they only provided evidence of that in one case and they have no idea of the identity of those victims.

Editor, Times-Union: I know my audience, Mr. Helton, and I know yours. I read, I watch, I listen to many, many sources constantly. I recognize truth and B.S., and I know how to tell the difference. For instance, I know that we the people know absolutely nothing about the Venezuelan boats our leader chose to obliterate — illegally. I know that “illegal” immigrants do not receive free health care. I know that it was our own vice president who once likened Donald Trump to Hitler, and that some of the “best people” he once hired called him a fascist and a tyrant.

Editor, Times-Union: If you believed every negative thing people believed about Trump, the Right, and Israel, you would think Trump was a dictator that was destroying democracy, the Right was too dangerous to be allowed to exist, and there was genocide in Gaza. Even newspaper writers embrace the lies like a 3-year-old who insists Santa Claus exists.

Editor, Times-Union: I had given up on writing another letter to the editor until Sargent "I know nothing" Schutz’s latest hit-piece on President Trump and the majority of the American people. I realize that the Sarge has unlimited funds and time to protest and fund protests, and agree it’s the Sarge’s money to spend, but you would think there would be better places in one's life, especially in the later years to do good for people or animals and not hate. Your side lost the election, move on, enjoy what's left of life.

Editor, Times-Union: The Trump administration — at least Trump anyway —has been extremely busy since taking over our government.

Editor, Times-Union: For the past seven decades, I have been dealing with cancer. I am sick of it taking those I love too soon. I lost my dad as a young teen, my mother, my husband, and in 2012, I fought and survived small-cell lung cancer. I have had to say goodbye to many dear friends along the way.

Editor, Times-Union: With multiple states in the union now gerrymandering or attempting to gerrymander their congressional districts for hyper-partisan advantage in the upcoming congressional mid-term elections, the following reform measures should be implemented:

Editor, Times-Union: The field of white crosses on the campus of Sacred Heart and School stand as a stark reminder of the disrespect for life so prominently fostered in the United States these past 48 years. It is the hope and prayer that the display will strike a compassionate cord in the hearts of those passing by, especially those who are either complacent with things as they are or those who are emotionally convinced that the taking of innocent life in the womb is acceptable. It is so very, very evident that money and power are the catalyst for this most unfortunate carnage.

Editor, Times-Union: Charlie Kirk was one of the latest truth tellers that became a victim of hate. Jesus Christ told the truth and they killed him, too. They both told people the truth they didn't want to hear. Just because you want to believe lies doesn't make the lies true. People in the media and those that write letters in newspapers hated Charlie and are glad he isn't around to tell them they are wrong and prove it.

Editor, Times-Union: I suppose it makes sense that Attorney General Todd Rokita would want to seek out people who make free speech comments in a tone he doesn't agree with. After all, he's an expert on acting in a way you shouldn't, as evidenced by his two violations of professional conduct rules, resulting in a public reprimand from the Indiana Supreme Court issued in 2023 (followed by a second reprimand in January 2025, which Rokita is currently disputing in court).

Editor, Times-Union: Stillwater Hospice would like to clarify information about our nonprofit status that was discussed in a story in Ink Free News on Aug. 19: https://www.inkfreenews.com/2025/08/19/county-council-discusses-parking-garage-airport-stillwater-on-day-one-of-budget-hearings/

Editor, Times-Union: Born and raised in Chicago, I learned a great deal about politics. My father was a staunch conservative and Republican, however, my mother was a Democrat. You only knew there was a major problem with this paradox when elections rolled around and even then it was civil disagreement. The Republicans were long associated with conservative spending and smaller government, the Democrats with increased spending and larger government, the same positions they both held since Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves. However, there was a drastic separation that occurred in the 1960s. There was a time when both agreed on law and order but not so much anymore.
