Editor, Times-Union:
We need not look far to see the real worst of the worst, the most despicable, the most self-serving, egotistical, heartless examples of deplorable human beings who are the centers of national attention, the daily headlines in all media outlets, the most vocal critics of all who try to hold them accountable for their depravity … the instruments of an oligarchy taking over the control and leadership of our country, to-wit:
—an inept FBI leader who bungles every task before him with catastrophic consequences while destroying the reputation and credibility of the bureau
—an incompetent Department of Defense leader who displays his delusions of grandeur without admitting to his own inadequacies and potentially deadly missteps
—a clownish DHS secretary who knows nothing about America’s laws, democracy, or humane procedures, and worse, doesn’t care about anything other than her costumes and evasive explanations of her department’s actions
—a dangerous, drug damaged leader of Health and Human Services who likes to play God with people’s lives and refuses to admit to the life-threatening dangers he promotes based on his own scientific ignorance
—a possibly traitorous and dangerous director of National Intelligence whose personal allegiances are questionable at best
—a vice president who clearly has not had an independent thought of his own that could not be bought and twisted by the highest bidder
—and last, but certainly not least, a totally narcissistic, autocratic, sociopathic, mentally and physically deteriorating leader who ignores the devastating plights of all Americans, who knowingly and callously contributes to that plight, and who dares to claim himself to be the “victim” of every disaster, every horrific tragedy experienced by others … a leader who listens to no one but himself, who follows his own set of laws, and who displays a complete lack of decency or human compassion for anyone … a leader who arrogantly displays his likeness throughout the halls of our house … who begs for adoration and awards and money.
These worst of the worst puppets star in the ongoing live production of the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 and its new extension released this past week, Project 2026. This new blueprint for America’s future will continue the cruelty, corruption, and control by redesigning “a government to control women’s bodies, erase LGBTQ+ lives, dismantle civil rights protections and roll back decades of hard-won progress. Wrapped in the language of ‘family,’ ‘sovereignty,’ and ‘restoring America,’ it is a direct attempt to impose a narrow, rigid ideology on an entire nation.” –Kathy Spillar, Ms. Magazine, December 13, 2025.
We the People have work to do. We have a nation to save. No single individual can do everything, but every individual can do something. Our first mission and first step must be to watch, listen, and speak up loudly and continuously — in groups, large groups — in neighborhoods, churches, work places, and local organizations of all kinds. We must begin now and not stop until the worst of the worst becomes the least and the weakest. Time is of the essence.
