Letters To The Editor

Editor, Times-Union:I'm only human - experience, hurt, the pain, all other emotions that one feels.

Editor, Times-Union:Thanks so much for taking time during the Kosciusko County Commissioners meeting Nov. 20 to honor me as Veteran of the Month.

Editor, Times-Union:Usually, I agree with you, Gary, but on this SCHIPS thing, I'm going to have to disagree.

Editor, Times-Union:Mr. Eppenbaugh places much emphasis on party platforms.

Editor, Times-Union:If I had been among those following Moses, after about a year of hiking in the desert I would have asked, "Does he know where the hell he is taking us?"

Editor, Times-Union:I have to ask you, Jennifer Bell, do you know of any employee who was fired from a business in Kosciusko County for not being able to make it to work?

Editor, Times-Union:Our U.S. Constitution tells me that as a citizen I have the right to bring grievances or complaints about how things are being done in Washington. My letters and emails to my representatives in Congress are answered by empty-sounding form letters that are noncommittal at best.

Editor, Times-Union:The present political situation within the Republication Party just blows my mind.

Editor, Times-Union:Much is made of the fact that we are a Christian nation established on Christian beliefs and values.

- IHSAA - Government Snooping - Cemetery Fence - Abortion Terminology IHSAA Editor, Times-Union: I must thoroughly disagree with many of the points raised in the Middlebury resident's letter in the Jan.31 Times-Union that stated the IHSAA is in "good hands" and no taxpayer dollars are used in the operation of the athletic programs with it being my observation that the gymnasiums are built with taxpayer money supplied to the schools. The letter writer also said attendance was down due to "cross-boundaries" whatever that means with attendance being down due to the class basketball tourney which has eliminated the great rivalries in the Warsaw, Plymouth and Elkhart sectionals and the resultant rivalries in the regionals. And these are just the tourneys in our area.

- Burket Elementary - Relay For Life - Wrong Argument Burket Elementary Editor, Times-Union: I'm writing this letter to inform all parents that have children in Burket Elementary and also the people in the Burket community that there is a strong possibility the elementary school will be closed starting with the fall 2003 school year.Unfortunately, Burket Elementary is being considered to house the Alternative Education Program for Tippecanoe Valley.

- FOP Mailing FOP Mailing Editor, Times-Union: The Kosciusko County Fraternal Order of Police is conducting its 2006 fundraiser, and it has been brought to our attention that there was an error in the material mailed. The phone number for the FOP should be 574-551-3559.An older form was inadvertently submitted to the printer, and the error was not noted until the person who received the lodge's old number advised us of the error. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate all those who support FOP Lodge No.149.If you have any questions about this program, please contact our Secretary Chris McKeand or Travis Marsh at 574-551-3559.

Editor, Times-Union:For decades the American church has been asleep.

Editor, Times-Union:This letter is in response to Brenda Kreis.

Editor, Times-Union:The earthquake was over. Scott Brown was ready to give his "victory speech" in Boston.

Speeding CopsEditor, Times-Union:In response to Patti Weston:Great question, Patti.

Editor, Times-Union:To hear official Washington tell it, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels is the new “serious” Republican presidential contender.

Editor, Times-Union:I am addressing this letter to all folks who run/walk/jog/hunt aluminum, etc.

Editor, Times-Union:If George Washington was able to address the American people, he would remind us ...

Editor, Times-Union:In honor of the life of Toni Morehead:

Editor, Times-Union:On the subject of cosmetologists vs. barbers, the subject of razor use was left out of the sound bite I heard.

Editor, Times-Union:This weekend I read several articles where the Kubacki campaign stated they had never seen such a hateful campaign, even calling Nisly supporters “unchristian.”

- Money Well Spent - Planning - Lost Faith Money Well Spent Editor, Times-Union: We have attended several of the recent Warsaw Community School Board meetings and would like to express our appreciation to the board and the school administration for the work they have put into the recent spending proposals. It is difficult to please everyone entirely, but the board made a genuine effort to listen to the public's views. As a result, they have made several significant changes to the plan. Along with addressing elementary school issues, the proposal will bring much-needed improvements to the high school facilities, both for the sports and performing arts. The money is an investment in our children and in our community. While it may be difficult to measure the gain in dollars, it is money well spent.

Editor, Times-Union:Dear Senator Lugar:

Editor, Times-Union:We have to do something about the plight of death row inmates who aren't getting the help they need. The latest high-profile case is Troy Davis in Georgia. You can get involved. Get online and go to www.aclu.org for a link to send a letter or sign a petition. You can also call legislators. Your actions could save a life.
