Editor, Times-Union: The present political situation within the Republication Party just blows my mind. I have always heard that this is the Party of “The Christian Conservative,” “The Moral Majority,” appealing to the Evangelicals and all things considered as Christian principals. On Wednesday morning after a primary election, I hear that a person has overwhelmingly won most, if not all, of the state primary elections of the Republican party. The person that won in my judgment does not seem to me to believe or practice the principals I mentioned above. This is why this blows my mind. You may accuse me of judging the candidate I am referring to, but his language and behavior in my opinion does not demonstrate the kind of person that this party has always in the past supported. Our Lord said in His famous Sermon on the Mount, “By their fruits you shall recognize them.” (Matthew 7:16) Perhaps I am being a “fruit” inspector.
