Letters To The Editor

Just a few short weeks ago, we changed the calendar to a new year, 2018.  The new year also ushered in a vote by the Whitko Community School Board to close Whitko Middle School and put grades 7-12 at the high school campus in South Whitley. This vote was the most fiscally responsible way to handle the situation that Whitko finds itself in.

Mr. Fribley wrote that there was no fixing the U.S. 30 problem when there is, but yes, not with the idiots we have in this county, and yes, they truly are! They have all known about the problem and they have all placed greed over the health and safety of the public!

I find that those who are having plan meetings on the U.S. 30 issues are about as full of B.S. as a Thanksgiving turkey.

I just returned home from North Pointe Cinemas after seeing the movie “The Greatest Showman.” I first saw the musical last weekend with my husband and returned today to see it again with my children.

I do not care where the high school is located, nor do I care if we have five or twenty-five mobile classrooms, whether Little Suzie is happy walking to school or who has to drive on the dreaded Ind. 5.

Editor, Times-Union: At midnight Jan. 20, the Democrats decided to shut down much of the government because they didn't get their way over DACA. They and the Republicans were supposed to vote on the …

Editor, Times-Union: This is in my concern for what the Warsaw school board is trying to do. The current board is trying to do away with the term limit (two terms, four years each term), as we have …

The truth is a weapon that can destroy lies or destroy many that use it.

I have a small nitpick with the story that appeared in Friday's article regarding Sue Ann Mitchell's historic selection as council president.

I am writing this letter to you as a lifelong resident of Kosciusko County, a retired Warsaw police officer and a friend of Sheriff William ''Rocky" Goshert.

Christopher Hitchens wrote a book “God Is Not Great.” He spoke about how religion poisons everything. I believe political correctness (PC) as pushed by social justice warriors (SJW) is rushing for first place.

In my previous letter to the editor I briefly outlined my proposed new rule for the admission of new states into the Union, that being the following:

When you base your actions on lies, don't be surprised when people accuse you of being a liar.

As part of my series of letters on reforming Washington, D.C., I would like to present these proposals which address congressional representation and the Electoral College. The previous two letters on this subject which focused on the Senate and the House of Representatives were printed in the Nov. 7 and Nov. 10 editions of the Times-Union's Letters to the Editor column.

As we have finally turned the calendar over to 2018, it is time for the General Assembly to start a new legislative session.

Joe Donnelly has betrayed Indiana citizens by not voting for the tax bill.

At an event earlier this year, Rep. Luke Messer gave a speech to the IU College Republicans.  There, he said that in the Republican primary, he said that the party must send forward its best candidate to face Joe Donnelly in the general election.

If you have watched any of the “Star Trek” series, you know that they use food replicators to make their foods and beverages. In the future, food replicators could be a favorite Christmas present.

For almost 50 years I've meticulously salvaged almost every piece of paper, every aluminum can, etc., etc.. and taken it to be recycled.

Any Indiana farm boy who has played basketball will not understand 20 points in a game.

The publishing industry has had a lot of troubles over the years. Book stores have been closing. Publishers have often found it difficult to sell books that can make back what has been invested in them unless the writer is famous or popular. I had to pay to have my three books published and might never see a profit unless any of them are picked up by a movie or TV production company. But in the future, books will change with the times and technology.

Once again Ind. 15 from Anchorage Road to Levi Lee Road has claimed another life. The particular stretch of road has recorded at least seven deaths in the last 10 years. It also has been the area of lots of near misses that don’t get recorded in traffic history.

President Trump and the Environmental Protection Agency recently took the courageous step to stand up to oil companies in support of farmers and homegrown biofuels.

Our local newspaper ran a story about our state representatives for our area, and how they all voted to give themselves a pay increase, exactly like their predecessors in the same offices did several years ago.

I pray the Indiana General Assembly will take another look at clock management for our children and our schools.
