Once again Ind. 15 from Anchorage Road to Levi Lee Road has claimed another life. The particular stretch of road has recorded at least seven deaths in the last 10 years. It also has been the area of lots of near misses that don’t get recorded in traffic history.
I believe it is time, or actually past time, for revisions on this stretch of road. The carnage will continue or get worse if design and enforcement efforts are not enacted.
I think the transportation department of Indiana should have already been working to improve this stretch of road. A new bridge is not the solution to the problems that exist. Local and state enforcement of speed and driving infractions at the present time is non-existent. The road lacks dedicated lanes, both north and south. The signage at best is not adequate to inform and warn drivers of impending hazards.
Let’s spend some of our new highway funding to give the driving public a chance at life.
