At midnight Jan. 20, the Democrats decided to shut down much of the government because they didn't get their way over DACA. They and the Republicans were supposed to vote on the budget that would keep the government functioning for at least three more weeks. But the Democrats, led by Sen. Schumer, thought illegal aliens and not soldiers, sick kids and average Americans were more important. It was as if the Super Bowl were canceled because those with fake tickets weren't allowed to attend the game. Do you think football fans would understand?
I've heard Democrats say Republicans control both houses of Congress and the presidency. But they conveniently forget to mention that Democrats can impose their will upon the Senate by preventing a 60-vote supermajority. It's ironic that many of those who want to abolish the electoral college which allowed Trump to become president so that a simple majority of voters can select the president don't want that for the Senate.
When I lived in New York, the radio talk show host Bob Grant called Schumer "Shmucky" Schumer. When I heard him blame President Trump for the shutdown, he reminded me of a bully that holds the hand and arm of his victim and forces him to hit himself, all the time asking, "Why are you hitting yourself?" Schumer said both Democrats and Republicans agreed to a lot that was in the budget bill. But he conveniently forgot to mention that the president would have had to accept millions more immigrants coming to America to deprive Americans of having work.
Too many Democrats want to protect illegal aliens from being lawfully deported. I almost think that if an American citizen were dying at the feet of a liberal Democrat and an illegal alien stubbed his toe, the liberal would scream for someone to help the illegal alien and would let the American die and not shed a tear.
The California attorney general wants people who turn in illegal aliens to ICE to be arrested. The Supreme Court decided nearly two centuries ago that federal law trumped state law. Maybe Democrats in California want a second American Civil War. If that state seceded from the union I bet there wouldn't be a shot fired. With Democrats turning California into North Mexico, maybe we'll be lucky to have California secede before 2020 so that President Trump will have a better chance of being re-elected. Maybe the Trump border wall will have to be extended around California to keep people from escaping the new country of North Mexico.
