Letters To The Editor

I read with a great deal of interest the article on the front page of Wednesday's paper dealing with the sewer system going in around Tippecanoe and Chapman lakes.

Recent celebrity suicides were unexpected. There are various reasons why people take their lives.

I have been watching, waiting and listening to all the noise about the fairground races and feel like chiming in before they and the fairgrounds are gone forever.

Half a century ago, Robert Kennedy was killed by an assassin in California. He most likely would have become president that fall and would have ended our involvement in the Vietnam War by early 1969.

Our church, Healing House Church of God, is asking for donations and any help for our community outreach to be held Aug. 4 at Rarick Park, South Washington Street.

Like many people across the nation, I’m sick of all of these mass shootings in public places, especially in schools. Even more, I’m fed up with the many media commentators, cops and others who repeatedly spout off after these incidents; most often their opinions are “These incidents of violence are results of a ‘mental  health issue.’” Bull!

The NFL has lost viewers and doesn't want players taking a knee to show the opposition for the deaths of black lives at the hands of police. I'm not saying we shouldn't be concerned about the deaths. Any wrongful death is a travesty. But which political party cares more about black lives?

Monday, May 28, was Memorial Day. Kosciusko County had a number of opportunities to observe this national day. One was held at the Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.

When I was a young boy my dad would come home from work and first thing that was said was "turn that noise down!”

The following is part of my series of letters on updating and further strengthening the Bill of Rights in order to better protect such rights.

On Monday, the Whitko Community School Board made a very foolish and very unwise decision to build an addition at the Larwill campus, under the guise of tech/career school.

I have read most if not all of the letters to the editor concerning the  “noise” caused when there are motorized events scheduled at the fairgrounds.

Many Democrats believe that just because there's no proof something exists doesn't mean it doesn't exist. To them,  President Trump is the Boogeyman. Oh no! I just gave Hillary another person to blame for her loss in 2016.

I have lived in Warsaw since 1978. Like hundreds of others, I moved my family into the city in 1998 after the fair board and the Winona Lake area property owners documented a formal agreement to prohibit motorized racing except under certain delineated conditions.

Curt Nisly deserves congratulations for winning the primary earlier this month. However, the overwhelming support he received was not surprising as he has been and remains dedicated to the district he continues to serve.

Did the fair board find a time machine somewhere, because racing is back.

There was an article in the Chicago Tribune today about bullying. What made this article so compelling was that it took place in the 1950s and it was about forgiveness.

The month of May reminds me of sunshine; of beautiful spring flowers of all shapes and sizes, each with its own special sweet scented fragrance; of a beautifully cultivated neighborhood of home gardens sprouting with an assortment of vegetables, ornamental shrubs and trees; and of that special time of year for flag waving and a time for families to gather together to pay tribute to those who willingly paid the ultimate sacrifice for their families, friends and country.

Lately Leesburg small business Keg Tavern has been attacked by town board members Tom Moore and Doug Jones. The sheriff’s department is Leesburg’s only police, other than Moore and Jones wannabes.

Democrats and especially the media are doing what Putin wants them to do. Putin wanted some of our uranium supply and both Hillary and Obama allowed it to happen

Editor, Times-Union: I'm responding to your article in the newspaper, Mr. Grossman. I find this situation neither simple or humorous. The Kosciusko  Fair just celebrated its 100th anniversary. …

When I was a fifth-grade teacher, I was fortunate to have Tony Ciriello as a DARE officer in my classroom for several years. He was one of the best.

Tax season officially ended two weeks ago, but paying them hasn’t stopped. Property taxes, sales taxes, use taxes, etc., they’re everywhere. It seems there isn’t a tax politicians haven’t considered and subsequently hiked.

My name is Robert “Bob” Long. I retired after 34 years with the Warsaw Police Department. I am writing to ask the voters to cast their vote for William “Rocky” Goshert.
