I have read most if not all of the letters to the editor concerning the “noise” caused when there are motorized events scheduled at the fairgrounds.
I also read Mr. Paul Fribley’s letter to the editor in Tuesday’s newspaper. He was more than way out of line. (DWIs were there after the races in the past? Maybe the DNR should pay more attention to the boats on Winona Lake if you want to find some DWIs.)
I have spent most of my life in Warsaw – since age 5. I grew up at the fairgrounds including the race track. I went every Saturday night to watch my uncle, Paul Hazen’s, car race.
I watched local legends race: Jim Elliott, Les Schroufe, Bimbo Atkins, Jeff Walker, Dewayne Barker, Tony Elliott and many others. I was heartbroken when the “NIMBYS” were able to halt racing at the track, not because they were right, but because they had the most money.
Here we are again in 2018, same scenario, same complaint. It is time for the “have nots” of Warsaw to stand up and say enough is enough. Has anyone sat on their deck and listened to the roar of the speedboats on a hot summer afternoon?
