Well, another primary election has come and gone, and in this town, that usually means the general election is a formality for assuring Republican dominance of city government in 2000. So it was more than a little disturbing to me, being a new Warsawan, to see that three out of four of my fellow citizens saw fit not to vote Tuesday. The election turnout - a mere 2,338 people cast ballots - was abysmal, especially considering some enormously important issues will be addressed in the next four years, affecting the quality of life and finances of every Warsaw resident for decades.
- Winona Scout Cabin - Hostages At Home Winona Scout Cabin Editor, Times-Union: On May 16, the Winona Lake Lions Club received a letter from the Town Council of Winona Lake directing them to remove the Boy Scout Cabin building in 60 days from the date of the letter.Here is a little history of the Club. The Lions Club was meeting at the Westminster Hotel in 1955-1958 and Mr.and Mrs.James Thomas saw that we were outgrowing our meeting room.He said if we could find a building lot, he would make a donation in honor of Homer Rodeheaver, long-time friend of the young people of the area, to the Winona Lake Lions Club, and the fund would be called the Boy Scout Cabin Fund.

Editor, Times-Union:Very nice write-up on Charlton Heston April 7. Most articles I read concentrated on his acting career, but the (Associated Press story in the) Times-Union dealt primarily with the political.
Editor, Times-Union: I found it surprising and disheartening to read and compare the two embezzling stories currently being covered by the Times-Union. The differences in bond amounts are, in my opinion, unjustified.

Editor, Times-Union:I am writing in concerns of global warming. Global warming is putting plants, animals, birds and fish in danger. Animals are becoming more and closer to extinction due to global warming. A good way to prevent global warming is to recycle. All the semis, factories, cars, even trash is causing global warming.

Editor, Times-Union:Last week the entire junior class at Warsaw Community High School was informed that our class principal had accepted a new position as building principal at Whitko High School. I was one of those juniors, and I am met with both sadness and immense happiness at this news.
