Two weeks ago, I had the privilege of attending the 81st Indiana State FFA Convention held at Purdue University. All of our local FFA chapters were well represented.
This is one organization and group of young people that do not get the respect and recognition that they have earned. These young adults are the cream of the crop. They spent three days attending workshops, competing in contests and attending to the business of the state organization. FFA helps teach our young people to be hard-working, responsible leaders of tomorrow.
In a couple of weeks our local 4-H fair will be held in Warsaw. Many of our local 4-H'ers are also members of the FFA. If you are lucky enough to attend the fair, ask some of these young people about their 4-H projects and ask if they are members of FFA. If so, ask about their experiences with their SAE (Supervised Agriculture Experience) or if they participated in a leadership event. Congratulate and encourage them in their efforts. These young people are the leaders of tomorrow. Don't forget to thank the advisers for all their hard work and dedication to the FFA program.
FFA is a student-led organization, but without the advisers, the program wouldn't be what it is.
My congratulations to all the area FFA members and advisers.
