- Animal Lover - Leave The Lights On - Plight Of Saddam Animal Lover Editor, Times-Union: Those that know me know I am an animal lover.I feed strays and have bottle-fed kittens whose mother had been killed on my road in the country.I was going through boxes looking for old records when I came upon an old e-mail: "I cannot speak.I can't tell you how I feel.It is up to you to understand my simple needs. But one thing is for sure, I am the same today, tomorrow and yesterday. "Although I am gentle, I have many enemies. Some are men, women and children. My other enemies are hunger, cold and disease.

Editor, Times-Union:I recently was at a fast-food drive-in on. I got my order and went home, and the food that I got was a disgrace. The fish sandwich was overcooked and hard, and the onion rings were cold, all seven of them.I don't mind paying a fair price for a meal, but I don't like getting ripped off. So, I called the manager and told him about the food. He told me the food was good and there was nothing wrong with it. Then he was nice enough to hang up on me.It will be a cold day in August before I eat there again.M.D. HollowayWarsaw, via e-mail

- Abandoned Cat - Setting A Date - Responsible Pet Owners Abandoned Cat Editor, Times-Union: This is to the person that apparently dumped your tortoise-colored cat for someone else to take care of.I assume you dumped her because she wasn't wearing a collar and she's not really a "pretty" cat. She probably was cute when she was small, but then she grew up.She came here in February and laid in the bushes outside our garage in the rain and snow.We took pity on her and put food out.We couldn't let her go without food in the cold.We later discovered she had ear mites so we treated her for those. Then we discovered she had worms (as all feral cats do) so we treated her for those also.

- Congrats To Warsaw Tigers Congrats To Warsaw Tigers Editor, Times-Union: As the clock ran off the final seconds of the Tigers game at Huntington, my heart pounded and my mind raced back over the years of our son's football. This was the end of Dan's career in the Warsaw football program. He had started in Pee Wee and gone all the way to varsity starter in his senior year. Dan played in large part because a friend - John Miller - told us, "That boy could play any sport he wants to" when he was just 10 years old and in his first year of Little League.John sent his daughter across town on her bicycle that August with the Pee Wee registration forms for Dan and Jonathan. We hadn't intended to let the boys play football ("too dangerous").But John persuaded us.The boys loved it.
