The Warsaw volleyball team drew a familiar foe during this morning’s draw for the IHSAA state tournament.

SYRACUSE – The Wawasee volleyball team celebrated senior night with a three-game sweep of the Triton Lady Trojans Tuesday, 25-13, 25-20, 25-20.

PORTAGE – Josh McDaniel had 20 points and Carter Twombly had 18 as Lakeland Christian Academy earned its first win in 12 tries, 60-43 at Portage Christian Friday night.Jake Harmon was also in double figures, scoring 10 points for the Cougars.LCA outscored Portage Christian 16-9 in the first quarter and expanded its lead to 28-16 at halftime. After the home team trimmed three points off the margin in the third quarter, the Cougars used a 24-15 fourth period to salt the game away.

WINONA LAKE – There is a lot of good news for Lakeland Christian Academy heading in to this year’s 1A Fort Wayne Blackhawk Sectional. But, the news isn’t all good.

    WINONA LAKE — Lakeland Christian Academy recently handed out its basketball sports awards with recipients listed below.

WINONA LAKE – When the Lakeland Christian Academy Cougars began the 2014-15 season, head coach Chris Hohm knew most of his varsity players could use another season or two at the junior varsity level. He said they needed to work on their basketball IQ and scoring the basketball.

WINONA LAKE — It hasn’t been a very strong season for the Lakeland Christian Academy girls basketball team, but it did draw a team doing much worse for its first sectional opponent.

WINONA LAKE – As an athletic program without a conference affiliation, Lakeland Christian Academy has to take a chance when agreeing to play some schools.

AKRON — It was another big offensive night at Tippecanoe Valley High School.

WINONA LAKE – Rachel Sand had 20 points and Hannah Delp 16 to lead Lakeland Christian to a 51-27 win over Calumet Christian in the third-place game of the Lakeland Christian Classic Wednesday afternoon.Sand had 22 in the Lady Cougars’ 60-30 win over South Bend Trinity in the opening round of the tourney Tuesday afternoon. LCA dropped a 45-29 decision to Covenant Christian in the semifinals Tuesday night.

PLYMOUTH — The Whitko boys basketball team saw its record drop to 1-8 following a 51-21 loss at Plymouth Friday night.

Giving up its first goal of the season Thursday, the Warsaw girls soccer team ended its Northern Lakes Conference game in a 1-1 tie with NorthWood.

BOURBON — The Class 1A No. 8 Triton girls basketball team posted a 53-25 victory in its home opener Tuesday night.

WINONA LAKE —  The Whitko boys soccer team held off Lakeland Christian Academy Saturday in Winona Lake, beating the host Cougars 3-2. 

WINONA LAKE — Lakeland Christian Academy inducted two individuals, 1995 alum Matt Reeve and former basketball coach Jay Lavender into its athletic hall of fame on Nov. 23.

The boys tennis sectional pairings were announced Monday, while the boys and girls sectional pairings were selected today.
