Volleyball Sectional Draw Held For State Tournament

The Warsaw volleyball team drew a familiar foe during this morning’s draw for the IHSAA state tournament. Hosting Class 4A Sectional 4, the Warsaw Lady Tigers received a first-round bye and will face six-time defending champion Elkhart Memorial Oct. 26. During the season Memorial swept Warsaw (25-21, 25-20, 25-12) on Aug. 29 in Warsaw, but Warsaw defeated Memorial in two games (26-24, 25-19) at the Sept. 21 Michigan City Invitational. Prior to the Warsaw/Memorial match, the sectional begins Oct. 24 with Northridge taking on Goshen, followed by Concord against Elkhart Central. The winners of the those matches will then square off at 11 a.m. on Oct. 26, followed by the Warsaw/Memorial match, with the championship then taking place at 7 p.m. In other action, Tippecanoe Valley received a first-round bye at Class 3A Sectional 21 at West Noble High School and will take on the winner of Whitko and West Noble, which play Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. North Miami High School will host Class 2A Sectional 37, which gets started with Manchester taking on Oak Hill at 7 p.m. on Oct. 22. At Oregon-Davis High School, the Triton Trojans open Class 1A Sectional 51 action against the Argos Dragons on Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. A complete glance of the sectionals for all local teams is below.
