WINONA LAKE – On a special night for Grace College’s women’s soccer team, the Lady Lancers pummeled Hannibal-LaGrange 9-0 on Saturday. Eight players scored a goal for Grace, including two from Flavia Faria and the game winner from Emma Neahusan.

KENDALLVILLE – Football is often a game of momentum, and once the East Noble Knights got it, they rolled with it to a 28-7 non-conference win over the visiting Warsaw Tigers Friday night.

In the 2017 debut, Grace College’s men’s tennis team came up short in a 6-3 loss to Huntington. The Lancers (0-1, 0-1 Crossroads League) started the 10 a.m. match with excitement to open up doubles’ play well. But the Foresters (1-1, 0-1 CL) rallied at multiple courts to win all three doubles’ points. Danila Kurkulin and Uros Pajic narrowly tasted defeat 8-6 at No. 1 doubles, and Conner Bates and Caleb Yoder lost by an identical score at No. 3. Despite a strong showing for Grace in singles, Huntington’s lead proved too great to overcome. The Lancers and Foresters split the singles’ courts. Arturo Fonseca won handily at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-4. Diego Zamora, in his first collegiate match, claimed a 7-6, 6-2 victory at No. 3, and Kurkulin earned a 6-4, 6-3 win at the top singles’ spot.

BOURBON – What began as a curiosity at a local festival has led Herschel Walters to the National  Horseshoe Pitching Association Hall of Fame. The Bourbon man was inducted July 23 in a ceremony at the NHPA World Tournament in St. George, Utah.

WINONA LAKE – Grace College’s women’s tennis team is eager to take to the courts for the 2017 season. First-year head coach Marcus Moore has brought in three new players to establish a small but solid crew.
