Volleyball Roundup – Aug 26Lady Tigers 2nd In VB Tourney



MISHAWAKA – Warsaw won all three of its matches in pool play before falling 25-23, 25-20 to Mishawaka Marian in the Mishawaka Invitational volleyball tournament Saturday.

The Lady Tigers took a 25-17, 25-22 win over South Bend St. Joseph, a 21-25, 29-27, 15-12 victory over Carmel and a 25-14, 20-25, 15-12 win over Elkhart Memorial in pool play.

Kacy Bragg finished the day with 64 assists, and Lexie Day had 44 kills in the four matches.

Now 7-3 overall, Warsaw opens Northern Lakes Conference play Tuesday with a home rematch with Memorial.



Whitko Bests Wawasee At Westview Tourney

EMMA – Each team lost three matches in pool play before Whitko took a 25-16, 25-19 volleyball win over Wawasee in the Westview Invitational Saturday.

In pool play, Whitko lost 25-13, 25-11 to Angola, 26-24, 25-10 to Goshen and 25-10, 25-12 to Eastside. Wawasee fell 25-13, 25-22 to Westview, 25-12, 23-25, 15-6 to South Bend Adams and 25-19, 25-19 to Central Noble.

Haley Howard had nine aces for Whitko. Kristina Slater had 45 digs and Emalee Duggins added 33 digs. Howard and Duggins tied for the team lead in the tournament with 18 kills each.

Brooke Heche had 22 digs, 11 assists and five aces in the tournament for the Lady Warriors. Peyton Rookstool had a team-high 12 kills, Courtney Larson had nine kills and nine blocks, and Elizabeth Kleopfer had 18 assists, eight kills and four aces.

Wawasee will play a non-conference match Tuesday against visiting Manchester. Whitko will host North Miami Thursday in Three Rivers Conference play.



Valley Wins 2, Manchester None In Tourney

NORTH MANCHESTER – Tippecanoe Valley won two matches while Manchester went winless in the Lady Squires’ volleyball tournament Saturday.

The Lady Vikings lost 25-21, 25-15 to Culver Academies, then earned a  25-23, 25-17 win over Manchester and a 25-7, 25-17 victory over Tri-Central.

Shayleigh Shriver had 18 kills to lead the Lady Vikings. Emily Peterson had 67 assists, and Olivia Trippiedi had 16 digs. Marlea Myers had four aces and Mackenie Woodcox added three blocks.

In addition to Valley, Manchester lost 25-22, 17-25, 15-11 to Tri-Central and 25-19, 25-23 to Culver Academies.

Sydney Day had 11 kills and 34 digs for the Lady Squires. Kendra Auler had six aces, Eva Bazzoni had 11 kills, and Kiera Hatfield had five blocks.

Valley will play a Three Rivers Conference match at Peru, while Manchester takes on host Wawasee in a non-conference match. Both competitions will begin around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
