Pairings for the 2018 girls basketball state tournament were released Sunday afternoon by the IHSAA.

Lakeland Christian Wins Inaugural Conference Title; Wawasee Edges Plymouth; Lady Norse Down Whitko

Balanced scoring and a second-half surge lifted the Warsaw Lady Tigers to a 46-29 win over Northern Lakes Conference rival Concord Saturday night. In a senior night matchup, the host Lady Tigers trailed 12-10 after one quarter of play and 17-16 at halftime before outscoring the Lady Minutemen 30-12 in the second half.

Manchester’s Halle Briner and Tippecanoe Valley’s Chase Brower were double winners in the Three Rivers Conference Swimming Championships at Maconaquah Saturday. Briner won the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke for the Lady Squires. Cora Barnett took second in the 100 butterfly for Manchester, which finished third in the girls standings. Tippecanoe Valley’s girls team was led by Olivia Livengood’s third-place finish in the butterfly and Tiphanie Hodge was fifth in diving. The Lady Vikings finished fourth in the team standings.

AKRON ­­– Class 3A No. 7 Tippecanoe Valley set the tone early Saturday night and cruised to a 62-30 win over Southwood. In a Three Rivers Conference girls basketball clash, the host Lady Vikings led 28-7 after one quarter of play and 39-17 at halftime, giving their three seniors an emphatic 32-point win on senior night.

NORTH MANCHESTER – Other than a first-quarter defensive lapse that allowed Peru to take a one-point lead, Manchester coach Jacob Everett was pleased with the Lady Squires’ effort in a 61-46 Three Rivers Conference basketball win Saturday afternoon.

NORTH MANCHESTER – Halle Briner, Cora Barnett and Parker York were double winners for the Manchester High School swim teams in their sweep of visiting Oregon-Davis Wednesday evening.

MARION – A slow start by Grace College’s women’s basketball team resulted in an 80-65 loss in Crossroads League play Wednesday at No. 13 Indiana Wesleyan University.

Trojan Wrestlers Beat Northfield; Concord Downs Warsaw

Warsaw’s boys bowling team advanced to Saturday’s Kokomo Regional by virtue of a second-place finish in the Logansport Sectional Saturday. Team members are Jacob Simpson, Aric Kauffman, Jason Veach, Ryan Seibold, Ryley Judd, Trenton Seibold, Trevor Stichter, Hunter Jackson, Dallas Anders and Tim Robbins. Coaches are Kirk Wyman, Glen Ransbottom and Chris Anders.

Whitko bowlers (L-R) Jose Cordero, Mikayla Schram and Jordan Wright advanced from the individual sectional held Sunday at The Bowling Alley in Warsaw. They compete in regionals this weekend.
