Manchester’s Briner, Valley’s Brower Win Twice At TRC Meet

BUNKER HILL – Manchester’s Halle Briner and Tippecanoe Valley’s Chase Brower were double winners in the Three Rivers Conference Swimming Championships at Maconaquah Saturday.

Briner won the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke for the Lady Squires. Cora Barnett took second in the 100 butterfly for Manchester, which finished third in the girls standings.

Tippecanoe Valley’s girls team was led by Olivia Livengood’s third-place finish in the butterfly and Tiphanie Hodge was fifth in diving. The Lady Vikings finished fourth in the team standings.

Brower won the 50 and 100 frees for the Vikings. Zach Hodge was fourth in diving, Daniel Alexander fourth in the fly and the 400 freestyle relay team finished fourth. Valley’s boys team was also fourth in the team standings.

Parker York was third in the 50 and 100 frees for Manchester, and Luke Donathan was fourth in the 200 freestyle. The Squires were fifth in the team standings.

Host Maconaquah won the conference titles in both the boys and girls competitions, with Rochester taking second in both cases.

The Viking boys will host Plymouth tonight. Both Valley teams will close the regular season Thursday, hosting Pioneer.

Manchester travels to Fort Wayne Canterbury Wednesday and to Huntington North Thursday.
