Second-Half Surge Lifts Lady Tigers Over ConcordBalanced scoring and a second-half surge lifted the Warsaw Lady Tigers to a 46-29 win over Northern Lakes Conference rival Concord Saturday night.

In a senior night matchup, the host Lady Tigers trailed 12-10 after one quarter of play and 17-16 at halftime before outscoring the Lady Minutemen 30-12 in the second half.

The Lady Tigers, who improved to 13-8 overall and 4-2 in the NLC standings with their 41st consecutive win over Concord, were 38 percent from the field in the first half, but improved to 52 percent over the final 16 minutes.

Concord, on the other hand, made 64 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half, but was just 3 of 18 in the second half.

The Lady Minutemen entered Saturday’s contest having won three of their last four games, but fell to 9-11 overall and 1-5 in the NLC.

Concord and Warsaw have met 51 times in girls basketball action, with the Lady Tigers owning a 49-2 record. Concord’s only wins in the series came in 1981 and 1983.

Junior Maddie Ryman led Warsaw with a game-high 11 points, while sophomores Brielle Harrison and Kaylee Patton scored seven points each, senior Emma Bohnenkamper and junior Kacy Bragg five points each, senior Kennedy Patton and junior Halle Shipp four points each, and senior Miah Holsclaw three points.

Bohnenkamper dished out seven assists, and Bragg pulled down a team-high five boards.

Sydney Simon led Concord with 10 points and six boards, and Chandyn Redmond added eight points, four rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals.

Warsaw beat Concord 53-15 in Saturday’s JV game. Kendall Wayne led the way with 16 points, while Kensie Ryman tallied 15 points.

The Lady Tigers close out the regular season Thursday when they host NLC foe NorthWood.
