William D. Ladd, 80, died at 6:50 p.m. Aug. 12, 2011, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born Sept. 9, 1930, in Macy, to William A. and Mabel Murphy Ladd. He married Alice P. Chamberlin on Valentine’s Day.

BOURBON - Willard D. Higgins, 83, of Warsaw, passed away at 7:15 a.m. Jan. 17, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

SOUTH WHITLEY- R. Duane Loe, 44, of South Whitley, died at 9:50 a.m. Dec. 8, 2011, in his home after a battle with cancer. He was born June 12, 1967, in Columbia City, to Raymond Duane Sr. and Linda Snyder Loe. On Sept. 20, 1997, he married Teresa A. Creech, who survives. His formative years were spent in South Whitley. He graduated from Whitko High School. Following his graduation, he went to work for the South Whitley Electric Department for seven years. He also became a member of the Cleveland Township Volunteer Fire Department. A professional truck driver, for the past eight years he drove for Warsaw Chemical. In addition to a 24-year member of the Cleveland Township Fire Department, he was a member of the United Methodist Church of South Whitley.  Also surviving are his parents, Raymond and Linda Loe, North Webster; a son, Colin; a brother, Brian (and spouse Gea) Loe, South Whitley; a sister, Heather (and spouse Karl) VanDevender, South Whitley; and a grandmother, Mary Snyder, South Whitley. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church of South Whitley, with Pastor Robert Barton officiating. A special service by the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
