Leona G. “Oney” Denney, 86, passed away at 5:10 a.m. June 20, 2014, in her daughter’s residence in Silver Lake.
She was born Aug. 24, 1927, in Kosciusko County, to Wilbur and Jessie Long Rule. On Nov. 27, 1946, in Fort Wayne, she married Norman L. Denney, who preceded her in death July 24, 2006.
She is a Leesburg High School graduate and lifetime Kosciusko County resident, She worked at Dalton Foundry for 25 years retiring Aug. 1, 1987 from the core room. She was a member of the Warsaw Square Dance Club; enjoyed playing Farkle and flower gardening; she was always joyful and never knew a stranger; she loved being around people whether in public while shopping or eating out; she enjoyed cooking for friends and for family gatherings where nobody would leave hungry; she was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are a son, Randy (and spouse Sally) Denney, Warsaw; two daughters, Linda (and spouse Johnny) Jude, Warsaw, and Rhonda (and spouse Ron) Gronau, Silver Lake; six grandchildren: Shelley (and spouse Matt) Boruff, Kokomo; Tonya (and spouse Dale) Arter and Timothy Denney, all of Warsaw; Nicholas (and spouse Brittany) Denney, Silver Lake; Brandy (and spouse Parwaiz) Nur, Saline, Mich.; Sara (and spouse Homayun) Nur, Evans, Ga.; and 14 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Hippensteel, who died Sept. 2, 2013, and her parents.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Titus Funeral Home, with Pastor Gene Correll, brother-in-law, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Titus Funeral Home.
