I just don't get it!

There is a lot of excitement in the bicycle community these days.

Editor, Times-Union:Clearly, the United States was founded on Christian principles.

Editor, Times-Union: I would like to thank Sacred Heart Catholic Church for their courage to host the Religious Freedom Workshop on Tuesday.  In full disclosure, I am not Catholic, but I am honored to stand shoulder to shoulder with them in the midst of this assault on our religious freedom. I am grateful to them for their public stand against this attack from the Obama administration.

Editor, Times-Union:Mark Sanford refusing to resign. What a shocker.

Editor, Times-Union:I am glad to see that Anthony Burchette is still drinking the partisan Kool Aid.

Editor, Times-Union:In Friday’s Times-Union, it was announced that Country Club Road will be closed between Sept. 14 and Nov. 25. Sounds fairly mundane, happens all the time ... right?

- Dog Gone It Dog Gone It Editor, Times-Union: Please, enough about the puppy.

Editor, Times-Union:Pressure is mounting in Congress to do something about climate change.

Editor, Times-Union:I have two items that I feel compelled to write about.

Editor, Times-Union:In response to the letter from Jim Newcombe about word usage:

Editor, Times-Union:What's happened to us? What's happened to our government? What's happened to our schools? Are we not one nation under God?

- Community Outpouring - Nursing Home Week Community Outpouring Editor, Times-Union: We would like to take this time to thank members of our community for the outpouring of support for our daughter, …

The first trip I remember taking down US 30 into our county was back in 1972 when my family moved to Warsaw.

Editor, Times-Union:Your vote on Nov. 4 is important.

On Wednesday, after listening to a very compassionate panel of local law enforcement professionals, social workers and health care workers, I came away with inescapable reality that methamphetamine is tearing apart the fabric of our communities, families, justice and legal systems and financial resources.

Editor, Times-Union:We received a call from a local business owner. He had information about a meeting that will take place Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Center Lake Pavilion.

Editor, Times-Union:What is a charge in a basketball game?

Editor, Times-Union:I have just been informed that our street manager, Ed Riordan, is in Lutheran Hospital and is recovering from a heart p.In Rick Ellis's defense, I believe there have been some issues that may have needed addressing. Perhaps we've been a little harsh in taking our street manager to task over some of the these issues, such as the street sweeper dumping more dirt out on the street than it picks up, the trash can in front of Jones Market being allowed to overfill and the herbicide sprayed along the curbs that sometimes finds its way into the tree lawns, but right now Ed needs our support and prayers regardless of how we feel about his work ethic. It's sad when life takes a turn like this in the middle of a disagreement. I would like to say personally that no matter how many differences I may have had with the town board, or Ed himself, that my wife and I wish him a speedy and healthy recovery.Ted CarterLeesburg, via e-mail

Editor, Times-Union: I wish the town of Warsaw, or any town, had something similar to the Brits: a House of Lords and a House of Commons.

Editor, Times-Union:An old friend of mine from Montana told me about something which had occurred years ago, when he worked as a taxi driver in Hawaii.

Editor, Times-Union:By now I'm sure most of the readers of the Times-Union know how upset the residents of the county are by the actions of the county commissioners.

- Gun Control Update - Art At The Fair - Thanks For Golf Results - Good Samaritan - Real Americans Gun Control Update Editor, Times-Union: Thanks, Matt, you remind me I haven't reported since the first of the year. Mixed bag again this year.As always, good news and bad.It appears President Bush has shot himself in the foot a few too many times and we may very well lose the White House. The Senate hardly matters.Even though we supposedly control it, with Senators such as Lugar and McCain, it's still anti-Second Amendment. But as long as we can hold onto the House we should be all right. Not likely to get anything reversed but should be able to hold off anything new.

Editor, Times-Union:Wow! Was the paper placed in my Times-Union cylinder Saturday morning a real Times-Union?
