I am glad to see that Anthony Burchette is still drinking the partisan Kool Aid. How can anyone say that after nine months in office that President Obama is repairing all the damage from the Bush presidency? Let us take a look at what Obama has really done these last nine months in office:
- Claimed there was going to be no lobbyists in his administration yet there are at least 267 individuals who are registered lobbyists and lobbied for groups such as Fannie Mae, SEIU and Goldman Sachs just to name a few.
- Campaigned as a candidate who was against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, yet has not ended either one.
- Signed an executive order to close the detention camp at Guantanamo Bay - then admitted that he won't make his deadline and has not come up with a plan to try suspected terrorists on U.S. soil.
- Made a couple of fancy speeches that somehow bamboozled the Nobel Committee into giving him the Nobel Peace Prize.
- Appointed several individuals to serve as "czars" with executive authority without Senate consent and approval as required by the Constitution (now I will admit that he took a page out of Bush's playbook on that one.)
- Turned a $400 billion budget deficit to a deficit surpassing $1.5 trillion and will have to sign a law raising the debt ceiling by another $2 trillion to $13 trillion.
Let's not forget the health care debate that is another example of Congress using its "Infinite Wisdom" Clause of the Constitution (see Article I Section 8) to craft a health care bill where the government is telling the people what is best for them. How can anyone believe that the government is the end-all-be-all solution to America's problems when the people created the government?
Mr. Burchette will have you believe that Fox News is the devil, and that they are using scare tactics to drive fear into the American people, and that Fox News lies to the people. If you have a problem with Fox News, Mr. Burchette, call them up and offer the facts.
Glenn Beck has always said that if he gives commentary that is not true, the White House can call him up, prove him wrong and he will admit it.
During the Bush years, the media and individuals who disagreed with him were ardent patriots who should be commended.
Now any media and individuals who disagree with the Obama administration are being seditious who should be considered enemies of the state.
This state of double talking has been going on by both sides for over 200 years. Mr. Burchette considers Democrats as the solution to all our country's problems and that is partially correct.
The actual problem is partisan politics and partisan bashing. George Washington would electroshock the entire government if he were around today because he is right.
