Tom Metzger Longs for the Good Old Days

I wish the town of Warsaw, or any town, had something similar to the Brits: a House of Lords and a House of Commons.

First, the city council and mayor (The House Of Lords) would come up with a project that sounds great on paper but before it could be adopted it would have to go to (The House of Commons). That’s us peasants otherwise known as tax slaves.

For example, why couldn’t the intersection of Lake and Fox Farm Road simply have been repaved, or at most install a cheap used traffic signal from a guy I know who deals in such contraband? I think it was Thomas Jefferson that was hot for traffic circles, but that was for horse and buggies.

Maybe I am prejudice since the only wreck I was ever in was in New Jersey on a traffic circle (not my fault), or maybe because my dad used to tell me to stay out of round barns because he knew a guy that lost his mind trying to find a corner to do his business in.

The new traffic circle would be great for go carts but Corvettes and 18 wheelers? Hmmm. Did anyone ever think of a city tax on big corporate employers to help with these streets?

How do you like the snow plows? They do a great job in the roadway but that mountain of snow they push into our drive ways seems a bit counterproductive. My idea is to leave the snow in the roadway, say up to 8 inches. At reasonable speeds it would not be problem except for the the Hoosier Mario Andrettes. But that would help the wrecking service personnel. They need to eat to. And let’s let some of these rural roads go back to dirt ... Start with mine first. Maybe it’s my second childhood that I remember when I could see cops, revenuers and even my chick’s dad coming in a cloud of dust a half mile away. Oh for the good old days.
