Last Friday on the Opinion page, a writer can’t imagine why Ms. Cates is running against the incumbent. I can tell Ms. Guerrero was either sleeping or skipping her American history classes.
I have been serving the citizens of the great state of Indiana in law enforcement since 1989. I am currently in my second term as sheriff of Noble County.
I am voting for Tyler Huffer for Plain Township trustee. I have known Tyler Huffer for many years and worked with him on several community projects.
I have known Tyler Huffer and his family for the better part of my life. This is why I encourage Plain Township residents to vote for Tyler Huffer for township trustee.
I am writing this letter in support of Indiana State Trooper Kyle Dukes, whom I have known for 12 years. It is my opinion Kyle would be a great sheriff for the people of Kosciusko County.
Do you remember the name Chesley Sullenberger? No? How about Captain "Sully" Sullenberger? How about U.S. Airways Flight 1549 and the Miracle on the Hudson?Do you remember the name Chesley Sullenberger?
I would like to help in the vital decision of electing a sheriff for our county. All the candidates are good law enforcement officers; only one has been elected twice to be a sheriff in this county and that is Rocky Goshert.
I've known Kimberly Cates for several years and recently have had the good fortune of serving on the Kosciusko County Council with her.
As we approach another election season, I would like to make known an experience I had with Bob Conley.
I enthusiastically support Tyler Huffer for Plain Township and I urge readers to do the same.
Recently there have been numerous letters to the editor supporting Mr. Goshert. I noticed in a recent ad that 7 out of 9 Kosciusko current police chiefs and marshals plus two area police department commanders support Kyle Dukes.
Curt said he would be pro-life. He kept his promise.
I met Rocky Goshert in the late 1980s. I was a young man out of college, and I wanted to be an Indiana state trooper. Rocky was assigned to Whitley County, which was my home county.
When it comes to my decision as to who to vote for in the 2018 sheriff election, it's simple. Who is invested in the future of Kosciusko County? Rocky Goshert is.
Representative Curt Nisly is a pro-life hero. His Protection at Conception bill is the strongest piece of life legislation ever to be authored in Indiana, as it would abolish abortion in our state.
A sign theft... or a ploy? It has been decades since I sent a letter to the Editor. But something happened last week – in the dark.
Life often presents us with very important decisions. If the roof of your home has been severely damaged by a violent storm, would you rely on your relatively inexperienced, young and well-meaning neighbor to complete the repairs, or would you seek out the best available local craftsman, who has years of roofing experience and a good business reputation in the community?
As a longtime area resident who was raised in a law enforcement environment, with a father who served as an attorney and judge, a brother who was an attorney, prosecutor and currently judge, I understand what is needed in the county’s top law enforcement official.
As I hear, the candidates claim they work well with other agencies in Kosciusko County.
The Sheriff’s Department has high standards and continues to work very hard with numerous reports by outside sources that prove this statement to be correct. After the caucus, which appointed Goshert acting sheriff, he instructed all his deputies and employees to do their personal best to be respectful and cooperative with all law enforcement agencies. This has been continually reinforced and put to rest by those who want to move forward.
The main responsibility of the Sheriff is to provide a safe community in which to live.
Editor, Times-Union: It is one thing to endorse someone, and quite another to push the narrative by telling, not suggesting who they should vote for.
Editor, Times-Union: The election is only a few weeks away; everybody wants to talk about one issue – abortion.
Editor, Times-Union: In a recent New York Times editorial, former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens wrote of the "need" to simply repeal the Second Amendment in order to remove any legal barriers that hinder gun control legislation.
Comments about tariffs in an article last week seemed to dismiss the potential impact on grain and livestock prices.
