The main responsibility of the Sheriff is to provide a safe community in which to live.
In order to accomplish this, the sheriff must manage and balance a budget exceeding $7 million. He must also manage and direct over 100 employees and coordinate all the activities in the jail, where he must make sure all the laws are followed to prevent an inmate from suing the county, which has happened in other counties.
The sheriff must maintain a large fleet of vehicles used by his deputies in patrolling the many miles and communities in our county and coordinate the activities in the 911 call center to ensure the prompt and accurate communication of the messages received.
He must oversee the supplies, preparation and cleanliness of a kitchen facility to prepare and feed over 1,000 meals each day.
He participates in the community school safety council and handles the ultimate administration of the work release facility.
As Elaine and I review the qualifications of the four candidates, only Rocky has risen to a place of leadership and for nine years has proven he can and has done the job of protecting the citizens in Kosciusko County.
His only agenda is to provide this safety for each of us 24 hours a day, a job he has successfully done for over 3,285 days. When we enter our voting booths, we will proudly cast our votes for Rocky Goshert, the proven leader.
