Curt said he would be pro-life. He kept his promise.
Curt authored the best pro-life bill in Indiana’s history, the Protection At Conception Bill in 2017 and 2018, which would stop all abortions in Indiana (HB 1134 in 2017 and HB 1097 in 2018). Science and Indiana law already recognize that at the moment a human egg is fertilized by a human sperm, the immediate result is a new human life. Curt has courageously stood for the unborn.
Curt has also authored the Heartbeat Bill in 2016, which would prohibit abortions after a discernible heartbeat except for the life or serious risk to the mother (HB 1122).
He voted for parental consent requirements in 2017, that require the parent, legal guardian, or custodian of an underage pregnant mother to give consent before an abortion (SB 404).
Curt says life is one of the unalienable rights mentioned in the Declaration of Independence. Taking the innocent life of another denies this fundamental right.
Curt Nisly promised to protect gun owners’ rights. He kept his promise.
Curt was the one person to call for a House vote on constitutional carry in 2017. Constitutional carry means law-abiding citizens would not have to ask the state for permission to exercise their constitutional right (HB 1071 Amendment 8).
Curt co-sponsored the expansion of firearm freedoms, legalizing sawed-off shotguns unless they are used while committing offenses, in 2015 (SB 433).
Curt authored the Indiana Firearms Freedom Act that made firearms manufactured in Indiana and that stay in Indiana not subject to interstate commerce laws in 2015 (HB 1633).
Curt knows that the 2nd Amendment states, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Curt says free people retain the right to arm themselves.

He opposed the gas tax increase in 2017 (HB 1002). He opposed expansion of the wheel tax in 2016 (HB 1001). He voted for the balanced state budget in 2017 (HB 1001).
Instead of representing the state to us, he represents us to the legislature.
