Editor, Times-Union:There is an epidemic among us and it is growing quickly. Texting, dialing or even just handling a phone while driving.

Second, I am not and have never been a sarge.There are no sarges in the Marine Corps. Finally, what facts would I have checked before shooting myself in the foot? I only responded to what Rooney wrote in his column - I did not, and would not, read his book.

- Traffic Rules - Dog Killed - Hand Street Viaduct - Paving Problems - Accidental Death Traffic Rules Editor, Times-Union: We winter in Florida and while there I read an article in the News Herald, the paper in Panama City, Fla.I cut it out as I thought it was interesting and true.I didn't think much more about it until my husband and I left Bob Evans last Tuesday evening.We stopped at the light at Center and U.S.30; when it turned green, we proceeded to cross U.S.30.Traffic had stopped both ways and we were almost in the center of the street when a car pulling a flat bed trailer proceeded around traffic and missed us by a very tiny margin.If my husband had not slammed on the brakes, we would have been history.

Editor, Times-Union:We have received several inquiries and complaints about recent election campaign mailings in the Indiana House District 22 race.

Editor, Times-Union:I can’t stand the lies any more!

Editor, Times-Union:I am currently in the process of being divorced. I have talked to a few people on this matter, and I get a lot of different ideas on the matter.

Editor, Times-Union:Another documentary that should be viewed before the election is “Koch Brothers Exposed” by Robert Greenwald. You will have to see it online because it probably will not be shown in local theaters.

Editor, Times-Union:It comes as no surprise to anyone who's been following school shootings all the way back to the Columbine High massacre in Colorado: Every young, male shooter that has gone on a killing spree in the United States also has a history of treatment with psychotropic drugs - typically SSRI antidepressants.

Editor, Times-Union: There is a new deduction on this year’s Indiana income forms that should make you evaluate the good sense of our state legislature.

Editor, Times-Union:If street racing and road rage are illegal, then why are producers still being allowed to promote a television show titled "Driven"?

- Contradictions - Rhoades Says Thanks Contradictions Editor, Times-Union: I hear on the news that the state is working to get a law passed that requires parents of infants and toddlers to have their children in a specified restraint or be fined a hefty fine.Seat belts and child restraints do save lives. On the other hand, man has gotten so far from his creator, he can't make up his mind when his own offspring has life, so he does with them whatever he pleases when he pleases.

Editor, Times-Union:I saw in the spring where the county had $1 million to spend on our county roads.

Editor, Times-Union:Thursday afternoon started out as a normal afternoon after work. I came home, changed clothes, then mowed the yard.

- Safety Focus Success - Back To The Days - Won't Shut Up Safety Focus Success Editor, Times-Union: With the organization, planning, sponsorship and assistance of MANY businesses and individuals, the first annual Focus on Safety: A Community Awareness Event, held in downtown Warsaw on Oct.2, was a great success! Scores of families brought their children to meet enforcement officials and their K-9 pals, firefighters and other emergency personnel, the American Red Cross and the National Weather Service; to learn about safety issues, including fire safety at Halloween time; and to participate in games and crafts.Safety literature was distributed to the adults.
