That Was Then

It has been a while since I shared my opinions via our good newspaper.

We readers can't help but notice that some who seem to have strong opinions to "push" have made up for any of us who've neglected to share ideas.

Born in 1922 means that I was 7 when the

"Great Depression" or "panic" hit our beloved nation. Several differences I've noticed from then and now.

1. The "welfare mentality" plague had never hit millions of us yet. And, the, "$ down and $ a month" disease had not caught on. We operated pretty much on a cash basis. The first things we "charged" were houses, then cars and now everything! Credit cards have fed the greed instinct, and devastated millions of once-happy homes.

2. A few days ago I heard the governor of Arizona say, "A few years ago Mexico had more than a thousand cities where drug cartels, white slavery etc. had 'taken over.' Now, she said, we have more than 1,000 cities north of the border like that. That fierce battle is right here in Arizona. We need help."

3. Never did we dream that America would ever think of the so-called "alternate life-styles" (which is really a death-style) or exchanging a form of government that has been the envy of the world for a socialist-Marxist, "proven failure" in Russia and other countries. Or the stupidity of socialized health system.

Yes, there are still people around who pattern their lifestyles after Biblical principles, and preachers who preach it. There's a growing number of them who meet regularly right here in Warsaw I've met with recently. Silent No More some call themselves. They seem to think the right way is the fun and joy way. And, I agree with that completely.

The voting booth is a great place to speak with clear unequivocal terms that can be heard all over the nation. But we need to start with our daily conversations and right living. Right now.
