It is with great concern that I write today. The headline of today's (Saturday, April 11) paper about the "Tea Party" just displays for all to see how far the Luddites in the Republican Party have gone. Their one great call is for the government to "cut taxes."
No one in their right mind wants taxes. Also, no one in their right mind wants to do away with what those taxes provide. We can cut out roads, highways, the defense department, and every other part of the government and make this an every man for himself totally chaotic mess. I'm sick of hearing this stupid call to cut taxes. If we really want to cut to the chase and eliminate the chaff, the Republican Party (who lost the election) has no real direction and just keeps harping on this issue. Their lack of foresight has given us Bernard Madoff and a whole plethora of imitators and the entire financial mess we are in right now.
The Congress has just passed the largest tax cut for the middle class in history. If you are in the under $250,000 income bracket, and 95 percent of us are, you are getting a tax cut. This was passed by the Democratic Congress with only a small handful of Republican supporting it. Does this sound like the Republican Party is for us? It sure doesn't to me. They want the rich to get richer and us peons in that 95 percent can just take what the party of "No" hands us. More taxes instead of a tax cut that they say they want.
Of all the hypocritical actions proposed by Republicans, this tea party takes the cake.
