Letters To The Editor

Editor, Times-Union:When surveys show that so many people are disappointed in the government, I have to wonder how much the Republican party has to do with it.

- Wilcoxson Defended - Wrestling - Roemer Responds - Catholic Response - CCAC Wilcoxson Defended Editor, Times-Union: The front page headlines on Brent Wilcoxson in Tuesday's newspaper smacked largely of scandal. To put it bluntly, I am disappointed with those stonethrowing Winona Lake residents who asked not to be identified.I don't know Mr.Wilcoxson, but I do know of him.I have long admired his passion for Winona Lake and the energy he expends for the benefit of that community. Winona Lake is not what it used to be.It has already lost one of it's most significant landmarks, The Sawdust Trail of the Billy Sunday Tabernacle.Bible conferences are no longer attracted to the area, purging another part of its character.

Editor, Times-Union:We would like to alert the East 2nd Street Extended neighborhood that there is person(s) harming pets of residents.

Editor, Times-Union:All summer I have had on my mind the homeless and how they could be cared for again this winter.

- Good Samaritan - Response To Secession - Hunting And Farming - DNR Information Good Samaritan Editor, Times-Union: I would like to thank the wonderful man who plowed out my driveway on Sunday, Jan.23.Saturday evening the strong winds and the snowplows that were cleaning my road had closed the end of my driveway up pretty tight. Having asthma, I knew I wouldn't be able to shovel it out.Usually I can just drive my car back and forth and flatten it out with tire tracks, but it was just too full this time.So Sunday morning I was sitting in my living room praying to God that he would make the sunshine melt the snow before I had to leave for work Monday morning.

Editor, Times-Union:There are determined, motivated, well-financed powers in this world that are breathing down our necks.

- Bush Is Evil - Abuse Prevention - Hot Summers - Redeemer School - Child Abuse Bush Is Evil Editor, Times-Union: George W.Bush knew that we would be attacked by Osama bin Laden. How do I know this? Several nations warned him that it was going to happen and he did nothing. Our intelligence agencies warned Ms.Rice and she had the Presidential Daily Bulletin that warned G.W.Bush.Both said there was no connection to this deed.Yet the title of the PDB stated just that.Several days after they lied to the 9/11 Commission, the PDB was unclassified and the world then knew that they lied. On a day when normally there would be 40,000 to 50,000 people at work in the Twin Towers, only approximately 5,000 were there.

- Pregnant Teens - American Products - ABATE Says Thanks - Upset By Letter - Christianity - Who's A NIMBY Now? - School Prayer Pregnant Teens Editor, Times-Union: As I read Will Baker's letter regarding pregnant teens (Jan.5, 2001), I felt increasingly sad and, then, just plain mad at his lack of compassion and understanding. There are many reasons that teenage girls get pregnant but the main one is NOT so they can get attention from their friends. They get pregnant because they mistake hormones for love; because they lack enough self-respect to say no; because a boy convinces them that he loves them; or because they are young and sometimes irresponsible.

Obama’s Gas Prices Editor, Times-Union: Well, I see President Obama has launched his re-election bid today. Lucky us. Do you realize gas is higher now than it ever has been? I know you Bush haters will scream it was higher on his watch, but if you do the research you will find that’s not so. If you Google oil in America, you will find some interesting reading. Actually, you can find some reports that say one of the Forbes brothers made the statement that we have more oil inside of our borders than all the other proven reserves on earth. Now, according to this, we have eight times  as much as Saudi Arabia; 18 times as much as Iraq; 21 times as much as Kuwait; and 22 times as much as Iran. If we have this much oil, why are we not getting it out of the ground? Now, of course, if you read some of the responses coming from the government, you would think all we have here is a mud puddle full and that’s it. Somebody is not telling the truth here for sure. Here again, the American people are being held hostage by this administration. I hear the president may spend upwards of a billion dollars on his re-election bid. I would guess a lot of the money used will come from special interest groups and tree huggers that say it’s all right to kill a kid but will stand in front of a tree so you won’t cut it down to drill for oil. While this goes on, the rest of the good old U.S.A. gets bent over another barrel of oil. Another thing I would like to know is, other than the Demos taking off to Illinois, where was Obama at when our unions were coming under fire here in Indiana and Wisconsin? I didn’t hear any support. Ask yourself, is he really for or against us? Have a good day. Lonnie Slone Warsaw, via e-mail Editor, Times-Union: Well, I see President Obama has launched his re-election bid today. Lucky us. Do you realize gas is higher now than it ever has been?

- Disagrees With Column - Accident Thanks - Responds To Miner - Agrees With Gerard Disagrees With Column Editor, Times-Union: I have had great difficulty appreciating the columns written by David Slone in the past because I often differ with his outlook on things. His column on April 16, "I Won't Vote For Souder" was, in my opinion, his worst effort yet.

Editor, Times-Union:A woman who was expecting her second child was told by her physician after an emergency C-section that the expected infant could not survive.

Editor, Times-Union:Sorry again, Sgt. Major. It finally dawned on me that I never did address your real issue of the current war.

Editor, Times-Union:We the people are again hearing a familiar sound: waste, fraud and abuse, as of those without constraint, at taxpayers’ expense, with plenty of noise and confusion; again, a wakeup call to those who wish to abdicate their public duty and use we the people’s money, that which rightfully does not belong to them.

Editor, Times-Union:Last year, Saturday night before Easter Sunday, I took my husband to the emergency room at Kosciusko Community Hospital. for what we thought was appendicitis.

Editor, Times-Union:I’m so disgusted; I really don’t know where to start.  Why isn’t President Barack Hussein Obama being impeached or forced to resign? It would require an entire book to list a fraction of the crimes committed by Obama and his shameful administration.

Editor, Times-Union:The popularity votes are in and the American public has given our elected officials on Capitol Hill a 14 percent no confidence approval rating.

Editor, Times-Union: The recent announcement and statements made by Mr. Saint in the Times-Union, dated Feb. 29, 2012, with reference to the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office is to us inaccurate and quite disturbing.

- Gun Laws - Jail Conditions - Code Enforcement - Animal Welfare - Prairie View Thanks - Voting - Angels Among Us - Safe Boating Gun Laws Editor, Times-Union: Thank God above, the congress passed another gun law today, now there won't be any more high school shootings, yeah right, personally, I think we need to impeach the congress for wasting the tax payer's money. They spent a whole day on a piece of paper that won't stop anyone, what a joke, and we're paying for this. It's not the gun, it's the person behind the gun.If a law that should be passed, it's a law that says parents need to teach their kids right from wrong and discipline.Have a nice day.

Editor, Times-Union:The primary hadn't been over for a whole 24 hours and our Congressman Mark Souder couldn't wait to go on WOWO and start lying about his Democratic challenger Tom Hayhurst.

- Living Wills - Proud Parent Living Wills Editor, Times-Union: There appears to be some ongoing confusion in the community regarding Living Wills and their usefulness for the patient whose wishes are that life not be prolonged by artificial means. If I may, please allow me to attempt to shed some light on this matter.
