I am writing in response to the letter written by Loren Bailey titled "Amber Alerts."
I cannot believe we have people in this world who are so caught up in their own lives that they cannot feel compassion for someone else's loss. I feel Loren's letter was very rude and inconsiderate. As a 16-year-old girl with younger sisters, I would do anything it would take to help find my sisters if they were missing. I truly do not understand how someone can possibly be so selfish and not think about the worried and grieving family in Indianapolis.
Loren, if you are reading this, I want you to imagine how this scared and helpless 3-year-old child feels being taken away from their family. The part in Loren's letter that really got to my mother and I was the part saying, "I resent being disturbed, especially at night, to hear about someone's personal problem, which I didn't create and can't help." I really do not know how someone could say that about this kind of thing. I might be young, but I do know that your article was completely uncalled for and ridiculous.
The Amber Alert System works when people care enough to listen. No matter what time it is. So next time this happens and you get upset, think about this letter and that child's family, and don't complain about it.
