Pets Being Harmed

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

We would like to alert the East 2nd Street Extended neighborhood that there is person(s) harming pets of residents.

On Sunday morning, Sept. 13, 2009, our dogs were chained up in our back yard. When we went to bring them in, one dog was running loose (unchained) and our small Corgi (Tippy) was on the ground with the her chain wrapped around her neck and chest lying unconscious and not breathing. We did CPR on her and took her to the Manchester Vet Clinic. We were able to bring her home the next day. She is now blind and has brain and/or neurological damage. She was fighting to stay alive; we are impressed with her will to live.

It was very painful to watch Tippy's health deteriorate to having seizures and walk in circles bumping into things. We had to have Tippy euthanized on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009.

There is no way she wrapped the chain around herself; someone had to do it. So, neighbors, please be aware that your pets could be in danger. If you see or hear anything unusual, please call NMPD. We pray that God will have mercy on the person(s) who harmed our beloved pet.
