Syracuse Police Chief Tony Ciriello At Peace With Resignation

Posted
SYRACUSE – Syracuse Police Chief Tony Ciriello announced his resignation from the force by Oct. 30, with his last day at the desk Oct. 2.
According to an interview with Ciriello, this was a hard decision for him to make but he has no regrets. He said that nothing bad has happened to make him resign – Ciriello has no hard feelings towards the department, but after 34 years in police work, he intends to hang up his badge and his gun for good.
"I'm at peace with this decision." Ciriello said.
This move had been planned for several months, he said. He is unsure what he will do in the future but does expect to have something concrete made up in the coming weeks.
Ciriello has filed a declaration of candidacy for the Kosciusko County Coroner position, which is available due to Mike Wilson’s move from coroner to Warsaw Wayne Township Fire Chief earlier this month.
Ciriello spent 17 years working with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department before taking over as Syracuse town marshal for the last 10 years.
There is no word on who may replace Ciriello.
