I am writing this letter in response to the one written by Sharyn Roberts, manager of Warsaw's Planned Parenthood "Health Center."
First off, I find the very words on the sign to be deceitful. "Planned Parenthood" might imply a business which would help those faced with parenthood issues to rise to the challenge. Such an establishment could teach pregnant women how to care for their growing babies before delivery, provide love and support for a mother faced with an unexpected pregnancy, and maybe even donate infant supplies to assist with the needs of a newborn baby.
The name "Planned Parenthood" does not allude to a place where scared, desperate women might go to receive counseling on how to murder their offspring. And my belief is that whomever chose the words that grace the company letterhead knew just that.
Satan is the king of deception. He uses every opportunity to trick us into sin. The Bible clearly states that murder is sin. I don't think anyone would argue that point. However, the Devil's all-too-often successful attempts to sugarcoat wrong-doing results in a gray area between what is right and what is wrong.
In the case of abortion, there is no gray area. There is no room for compromise, and there is certainly no room for negotiations. There is ample room for education, for hope, and most importantly for prayer.
And there is a place for every woman who finds herself face to face with an unexpected pregnancy. That place is Heartline Pregnancy Center. At Heartline Pregnancy Center, women can be taught how to care for their growing babies before delivery. They can be shown God's love, feel the support of an understanding and compassionate group of staff , nurses and volunteers. And they can also receive what material things they will need to care for their new child, just as the words "Heartline Pregnancy Center" imply.
It is true that the Planned Parenthood in our county does not perform abortions. However, their primary goal is to "counsel" a young, uninformed woman who is pregnant to choose to abort her unborn child, and to send that "one-sided and misguided" soul to another clinic that does physically murder these babies.
I almost ended this letter by saying that it is not my intention to stir up anger and strong feelings. But that is a lie! I want readers to feel strongly about this issue. I want you to get angry.
We all need to be outraged that it is legally acceptable to commit murder in this "nation under God." We need to feel passionately about this issue because unborn babies cannot stand up for themselves. We are called to be their advocates.
My challenge to every person who believes in the value of the sanctity of life is this: Speak up, make a difference. Start a conversation about how important it is to protect the ones who can't protect themselves. Pray, fast, and believe, and don't compromise. I believe that we can make a difference if we fall down on our knees and pray. Long ago just 12 men turned this world around, and we can do the same today. Let us create a peaceful, yet powerful demonstration, and our world can be transformed.
