Making his first start at quarterback since 8th grade, Warsaw Community High School senior Tristan Larsh certainly answered the challenge Friday night.
BOURBON – One longtime Triton High School football fan commented on his way out of the stands “I’m not sure that new scoreboard works. I think the points are reversed.”
SYRACUSE – Wawasee initiated new-look Warrior Field in style Friday with a 53-34 win against visiting Lakeland.
WABASH – As good as advertised.
CHURUBUSCO – Two seasons ago, the Whitko Wildcats ended Churubusco’s season 34-27 in a sectional semifinal.
After a sluggish start, Warsaw rallied to win the last three sets and take a 23-25, 25-17, 25-11, 26-24 victory over Huntington North in a non-conference volleyball match Thursday evening at the Tiger Den.
Led by some consistent play, Warsaw’s varsity girls golf team scored a pair of 9-hole match wins at Stonehenge Thursday.
There’s no embarrassment, said coach Rick Orban, in losing to a better team.
WINONA LAKE – The Grace College women’s soccer team will have a new look on the field in 2017.

They are young, they are experienced, and they are ready to conquer the 2017-18 season. The Grace College women’s golf team, coached by Denny Duncan, is thrilled to be swinging the clubs once again. In just the third year of the program’s existence, Grace already boasts an impressive group of returners. Lauren Keiser, Anna Marshall, Sydney Abbott and Libby Tully were mainstays in Grace’s lineup last year, a season which shattered expectations for the young team.
Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 200 pounds, Warsaw senior Tristan Larsh brings plenty of size and strength to the quarterback position.
AKRON – He knows it won’t be easy, but Stephen Moriarty’s mission is simple – return the Tippecanoe Valley High School football program to its glory days.
Here we are!
After Wawasee came from behind to take the first set from Tippecanoe Valley, the Lady Vikings dominated the middle two sets before holding off the Lady Warriors in the fourth and taking a 23-25, 25-15, 25-11, 25-23 win in the opening volleyball match for both teams Tuesday night. Junior Shayleigh Shriver led the way for Valley with six aces, and the Lady Vikings had 19 aces in the match. Head coach Mallory Eaton said the service game is a point of emphasis for her team to help make up for shortcomings they can do nothing about.
After what coach Frank Courtois called a sluggish start, Warsaw Community High School's varsity boys soccer team had little trouble finishing off the Argos Dragons Tuesday night. Hosting the Class 1A second-ranked Dragons in their home opener, the Tigers' Cole Voss scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 18th minute as Warsaw cruised to a 6-0 win. “We started a little sluggish,” said Courtois, whose team led 2-0 at halftime. “The kids realized that we were the better side and started putting things together. We worked on our finishing (Monday) for an hour and a half. It paid off. I think the kids did a good job, not perfect, but they did a real good job today.”
