More than 100 roller skaters from the U.S. and Canada will be in Warsaw for SK8CAMP USA beginning today at Eastlake Skate Center, 3010 Frontage Rd. The camp is for skaters from beginner levels to elite, and includes 2017 Team USA World Championships athletes.

A hard-fought semifinal match in the Crossroads League Tournament semifinals went against Grace College’s volleyball team. The Lady Lancers lost in three sets at Indiana Wesleyan as the Wildcats’ offense was not able to be stopped. Grace will switch its focus to qualifying for the NCCAA National Championships.

Grace College and Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe welcomed student-athletes from the high schools of the Northern Lakes Conference for a Sportsmanship Summit on Tuesday. Student-athletes from the NLC schools attended the summit, which was designed to educate student-athletes about sportsmanship and character training in athletics.
WINONA LAKE – The upperclassmen did their thing. So did the highly-touted younger players.
Wawasee’s athletic department presented its fall sports awards Monday night. Chris Pena was the most valuable player on the boys soccer team, and Devon Dewitt was the Warrior Way award winner. Eric Yankosky earned the best defensive player, and Ryan Edington was the best offensive player. On the junior varsity team, Ashton Stookey was the MVP, Jace Mishler was the best offensive player and Kenyon Cottom the best defensive player.

Chris Taylor, a junior at Manchester High School, qualified for the Special Olympics state bowling tournament by finishing second in the area tournament Saturday in Logansport. The state tournament is Dec. 2.

Emma West scored 12 points, and hit all eight of her free throws, to lead Manchester to a 49-19 season-opening girls basketball win at Adams Central Saturday night. Kiera Hatifield had 11 points and Kerigan Hatfield pulled down eight rebounds in the non-conference game. Erika Kendall had six points and six boards in the matchup.
WINONA LAKE – Lakeland Christian Academy is coming off a pair of 12-win girls basketball seasons, the best back-to-back years in the history of the program.
The Three Rivers Conference announced its academic all-conference teams this morning.
