Wawasee Holds Fall Sports Awards CeremonySYRACUSE – Wawasee’s athletic department presented its fall sports awards Monday night.
Chris Pena was the most valuable player on the boys soccer team, and Devon Dewitt was the Warrior Way award winner. Eric Yankosky earned the best defensive player, and Ryan Edington was the best offensive player. On the junior varsity team, Ashton Stookey was the MVP, Jace Mishler was the best offensive player and Kenyon Cottom the best defensive player.
Belle Brunner was the MVP of the girls golf team, and Lesley Tayagua was the Warrior Way winner. Zoe White was the second medalist, Jadison Rostochak the third medalist and Valerie Haessig was most improved.
Natalie Winters was the Warrior Way winner on the girls soccer team. Sara Pritchard was the offensive award winner, Kendra Doerr won the defensive award, Meghan Beer the mental attitude award and Graceanne Kerlin was most improved.
Dylan Staley was the Warrior Way winner for the boys tennis team, and Jake Cowan won the “98 Percent Mental Attitude Award.” Jacob Krugman was the most improved doubles player, Graham Perek the most improved singles player, and Colin Rhoades the most improved junior varsity player.
Spencer Hare was the boys cross country Warrior Way winner, and Jace Alexander the newcomer impact winner. Michael Hammer won the dedication to training award, with Luke Griner and Hare winning competitive toughness awards. Karison Hand was most improved, and Bennett Hoffert was the encouragement and inspiration award winner.
Evelin Romo was the Warrior Way winner on the girls cross country team, and McKenzie Smith was the most valuable runner. Lauren Horn was most improved, and Morgan Ebright was the mental attitude award winner. Caitlin Wortinger was rookie of the year, Autumn Turner won the fighter award, and Reagan Atwood was the “IAM3 Award” winner.
Veronica Valencia was the cheerleading Warrior Way winner, and Taylor Meek the varsity squad MVP. Kellishandra Mendoza was the mental attitude award winner. Brayanna Kelly was the JV MVP and Amaya Rhodes was the JV spirit award winner. Emma Ebright was the freshman MVP, and Katelyn Trimble won the freshman most improved award.
Ashley Vazquez won the Warrior Way award from the volleyball team. Janae Hapner was the varsity “Heart of a Warrior” winner, and Peyton Rookstool won the varsity hustle award. Madison Mottern won the JV heart award, and Ella Williamson the JV hustle award. Abby Morehead earned the freshman heart award, and Catherine Ondrla the freshman hustle award.
Zak Linnemeier won the Warrior Way award from the football team. Dylan Hepler was offensive player of the year, and Elisha Tipping won defensive player of the year. Jacob Hand was the special teams MVP, and Dane Jenkins was the scout team player of the year. Evan Gregory won “The Glue” award, and Justin Castro was the freshman player of the year.
