WINONA LAKE – Every year at this time, Grace College’s ever-present Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe makes a pilgrimage to Virginia.

WINONA LAKE – Grace College’s men’s and women’s golf teams are just days away from starting the 2018-19 season. Both teams enter the season with excitement and are eager to better last year’s performance.

NORTH?MANCHESTER?– The Manchester Squires got their first taste of adversity Wednesday.

PLYMOUTH – Madelyn?Ray medaled with a score of 43 as the Warsaw girls golf team defeated Plymouth 184-218 Wednesday at Pretty Lake Golf?Club.

NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester Squires got their first taste of adversity Wednesday.  The Manchester boys tennis team faced an undefeated Peru and fell 4-1 in a Three Rivers Conference match at Manchester High School. 

Second place was a good first start for the Warsaw girls cross country team Tuesday.

PLYMOUTH – Using motivation from a loss to Concord last year, Warsaw’s varsity girls soccer team opened the Northern Lakes Conference season with a convincing win at Plymouth Tuesday night.

WINONA LAKE – A free kick goal from Breno Oliveira lifted Grace College’s men’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory on Tuesday in the season opener against Rochester College.

This year’s Denny Hepler Future Stars Golf Foudation Payne Stewart Award was given to Warsaw Community High schools graduate and Taylor University freshman Sam Yeager.

NORTH MANCHESTER – Bailey Mooney kicked in two goals to lead the Manchester girls soccer team to a 4-0 victory over visiting Wawasee Tuesday. Manchester’s Emma Garriott and Beletu Stout also scored, while Stout and Lainey Shock registered two assists each.

WINONA LAKE – The Grace College men’s soccer team is poised to continue its assault on the Crossroads League this year. Only two players graduated from the 2017 squad that won the Crossroads League Tournament and reached the NAIA National Championships for the first time in 35 years.

Mark Adkins, Manchester University sports information director, has been tapped to chair the College Sports Information Directors of America U Committee.

FORT?WAYNE – The Warsaw volleyball team overcame a 2-1 deficit for a 3-2 win Monday at Homestead.

Another year, another football team folded. Wawasee High School announced last week that it was cancelling its freshman season due to a lack of players. Wawasee’s decision follows a trend of dissolved high school football teams across the nation.

HUNTINGTON – On the final day of the Huntington Invitational, Grace College’s volleyball team took down No. 16 Cornerstone on Saturday. The Lady Lancers split the day, falling to Northwestern Ohio in five sets to wrap up an eventful weekend.

KOKOMO – Warsaw volleyball coach?Rick Ashmore notched his 900th career win Saturday as the Lady Tigers won the Kokomo Tournament. Warsaw topped Charles A. Tindley Accelerated?School 25-10, 25-6 in the title match.

Warsaw Community High School junior Delaney Taylor has been selected as the first Times-Union Area Athlete of the Week for the 2018-19 school year.

COLUMBIA CITY – At times, the play in Friday night’s high school football season opener between the Warsaw Tigers and host Columbia City Eagles was as sloppy as the rain-soaked, muddy field.

AKRON – Turnovers turned the tide for Tippecanoe Valley on Friday. The Vikings’ football team gave away the ball four times and struggled to stop Bremen’s passing attack in a 34-7 loss in a non-conference game at Tippecanoe Valley High School.

SOUTH WHITLEY – A 56-0 shutout loss at Churubusco was not what the Whitko Wildcats had in mind when they opened up the season a year ago. A winless season was not in the plans, either, but with the past behind them, the Wildcats looked to improve and open the 2018 season on a better note.

NORTH MANCHESTER – Four letters are where Manchester High School head coach Greg Miller kept his thoughts Friday night. Team.

UNION MILLS – Delano Shumpert found paydirt multiple times as the Triton football team started its season with a 30-7 win ?Friday at South Central High School.

HUNTINGTON – Kacy Bragg did a little of everything as the Warsaw volleyball team (1-1) won 25-18, 25-17 and 25-23 at Huntington North on Thursday.
