Warsaw Community High School junior Delaney Taylor has been selected as the first Times-Union Area Athlete of the Week for the 2018-19 school year.
Taylor, a member of the Lady Tigers’ varsity soccer team, put her name in the program’s record book Saturday in a 4-3 win over Chesterton.
Playing the Trojans in a tournament hosted by South Bend St. Joe, Taylor scored a goal and assisted on two others, as the Lady Tigers improved to 2-0 on the season.
Taylor’s pair of assists brought her career total to 33, a new WCHS girls career record. The feat is quite impressive given that she accomplished it in just over two seasons.
The Lady Tigers played again Saturday night, falling 3-1 to defending state champion Evansville Memorial.
Warsaw is in action again Tuesday when it opens Northern Lakes Conference play at Plymouth.
