Prep Roundup: Warsaw Spikers Sweep Huntington North

HUNTINGTON – Kacy Bragg did a little of everything as the Warsaw volleyball team (1-1) won 25-18, 25-17 and 25-23 at Huntington North on Thursday.

Bragg tallied four kills, 17 assists, two blocks, two digs and an ace. Erin Peugh had eight digs and three kills, while Kylie Smith recorded nine digs, Katie Swanson tallied seven aces and Elizabeth Schmidt had five digs.

Warsaw’s JV team (1-1) won in three games, while the Lady Tigers’ freshman team won in two games.



Triton Spikers Fall To Oregon-Davis

HAMLET?– The Triton volleyball team lost 3-0 to Oregon-Davis on Thursday at Oregon-Davis High School.

Abbey Viers had eight kills and three solo blocks for the Lady Trojans, while Emma Hepler tallied nine assists and Dylanie Miller had eight assists.

Molly McFarland recorded 10 digs for Triton.



Wawasee Boys Soccer Pulls Out Close Win

SYRACUSE – Chris Pena and Juan Hertado scored goals to propel the?Wawasee boys soccer team to a 2-1 win at South Bend?Riley.

Dillon Drake had an assist and five saves for the?Warriors (2-0), while Bode Grimes also assisted on a goal.



Tippecanoe?Valley Soccer Drops Match To NorthWood

NAPPANEE – The Tippecanoe Valley soccer team lost to NorthWood, 11-0 on Thursday at NorthWood High School.

NorthWood scored seven goals in the first half and four in the second.



Manchester Lady Squires Win Over Wabash

NORTH?MANCHESTER – Emma Garriott scored the match’s lone goal as the Manchester girls soccer team topped Wabash 1-0.

“The defense, led by Lex Donathan, did a fantastic job shutting down the Apaches,” said Manchester coach Jen Birch.



Warsaw Girls Golf Wins Sixth Match Of Season

WABASH – The Warsaw girls golf team won a three-way match against Wabash and Tippecanoe Valley on Thursday at?Honeywell?Golf Course.

The Lady Tigers had a team score of 186, with Izzy Ray and Grayson Kilburn each scoring a 44.

Miriam Hagg and Julia Hildebrand shot 49s, while Madelyn Ray carded a 50 for Warsaw (6-1).

Tippecanoe Valley had two golfers compete. Chaney Canada shot a 72, while Sara Kelly shot an 82 for the Lady Vikings.

In the JV match, Warsaw’s Marie Frazzetta shot a 48, while Anna Morgan had a 51 and Delaney Byron shot a 54.



Whitko Girls Golf Excels In Three-Team Match

NORTH?MANCHESTER?– Bailey Wright shot a 48 to lead the Whitko girls golf team to victory in a three-way match Thursday at Sycamore Golf Club.

Whitko scored a 214, Southern Wells shot a 218, and Triton did not have enough players for a team score.

Summer West and Guinny Garr both shot 54s, while Gus Garr had a 48 for Whitko.

Abigail Fishel was the lone golfer for Lakeland Christian and medaled with a 45.



Warsaw Boys Tennis Blanked By Penn

MISHAWAKA – The Warsaw boys tennis team fell 5-0 at Penn Thursday.

Warsaw’s No. 1 doubles team of Nolan Knight and Spencer Britton played a hard-fought match, being edged 6-4, 6-3 by Jack Dinnion and Alvin Yang.

Warsaw also played six JV matches, losing all six.



Triton Boys Tennis Shuts Out Rochester

ROCHESTER – The?Triton boys tennis team won 5-0 Thursday at Rochester.

Triton’s John?Gardner won 5-7, 7-6(5), 12-10 at No. 1 singles, while Jared Bules won 7-6(5), 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

Connor Large breezed to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles for the Trojans (1-2).

The No. 1 doubles duo of Carter Kuntz and Chase Butler won 6-2, 6-1, while Tyler Heckaman and Grant Elb won 4-6, 7-6(5) and 10-8.

Rochester won the JV match 4-1.



Tippecanoe Valley Tennis Falls To North Judson

AKRON – Payton Mills won at No. 1 singles, but the Tippecanoe Valley boys tennis team lost 4-1 to North?Judson on Thursday.

Mills won his match 6-0, 6-0.



Wawasee Boys Tennis Shut Out By Plymouth

PLYMOUTH?–?The Wawasee boys tennis team lost 5-0 to Plymouth on Thursday at Plymouth High School.

The?Warriors are now 1-2.

Warsaw Freshman Football Cruises To Season-Opening Win

Sammy Smith returned an interception 80 yards for a touchdown as Warsaw’s freshman football won 22-6 over Concord on Thursday at Fisher Field.

Jackson Dawson led the Tigers with two rushing touchdowns, while Daniel Lopez and Lucas Wrenn both scored on two-point conversions.

Defensively, Luke Anderson tallied a sack while Dane Koontz picked off a two-point try.
