Letters To The Editor

Editor, Times-Union:This is a letter to inform this community on the truth of who Mike Huckabee really is. There are a lot of rumors, such as Huckabee is not a true fiscal conservative or that Huckabee cannot win and that John McCain will be the inevitable nominee.

Editor, Times-Union:I have enjoyed this forum for a number of years, sometimes I have nodded in agreement with the writer and other times I have laughed at the absurdity of statements made, ...

Editor, Times-Union:In the months since Barack Obama entered the office of U.S. president ...

Editor, Times-Union:If the Indiana Department of Natural Resources does not start to manage our deer herd more responsibly, we will not be able to enjoy hunting in our future.

Editor, Times-Union:When is a promise not a promise? When it is broken.

Editor, Times-Union:I am sure that I speak for most people when I tell you just how gut-wrenching the story was about the 2-year-old little girl that recently died of injuries due to child abuse.

- Alternative Medicine - Christmas Lights Alternative Medicine Editor, Times-Union: A few weeks ago the Times-Union ran a story titled, "Alternative Medicine Emerging Locally." It's true many people are tired of the drugs, surgery and other conventional ways of treatment, and are looking for disease-preventative healthy living. However, we need to be careful and not fall for the questionable claims and practices associated with some forms of alternative healthcare; some of which may be based in New Age Spiritualism. First, I must say that not everyone who espouses these practices should be labeled New-Spiritualist or even New Age, nor am I saying that these things are wrong or even sinful.

- News Views - Criticism - Benefit - Legion - Swim Team - Spending - Catholic News Views Editor, Times-Union: I'm afraid this will come as a great shock to Steve Haines, but I must respectfully disagree with his opinion regarding Gary Gerard's March 15 "News Views." Actually, that column is one of the main reasons why I (and a multitude of my like-minded friends) subscribe to the Times-Union.It is really refreshing to have someone write so eloquently each week about the issues that surround us.

Editor, Times-Union:I like the article Lonnie Slone wrote Feb. 17, 2014.

- Good Samaritans - Snow Days - Choirs - School Days - Winona Ordinance - Dog Ordinance Good Samaritans Editor, Times-Union: I don't know if your newspaper prints local editorials or not, but I have something I think is worth printing. I was in the Warsaw area on March 6th and stopped at the McDonald's on Route 30.I was going through the drive-thru and my car wouldn't start after turning it off to get something from my locked dash.Needless to say, I was stuck and holding up the line.My battery had gone completely dead.I was obviously in need of help to get my car pushed to an area in order to get a jump.

- Preserve The Past - Barbee Sewer - War And Highways - Only Bad News - Band Fairness Preserve The Past Editor, Times-Union: I am a member of the newly formed Kosciusko Archaeological Society. We had a meeting with a fascinating guest lecturer at the library Monday night. The talk was interesting and very informative, and I enjoyed it very much. However, a matter of concern came up during the discussion afterwards, and it is one many people either don't understand or brush off as unimportant.

Editor, Times-Union:As an ex-English teacher, this writer is appalled at the undisciplined essays in this paper that appear to be for the sole purpose of imposing one’s views on its readers.

- Thankful Motorist - Loss Of Morals - Volleyball Coach - More Volleyball Coach - Council Candidate Thankful Motorist Editor, Times-Union: Around 2 p.m.on June 29, a hot, humid day, my car stopped running on State Road 15S and I coasted to the side of the road.As I was walking to a nearby house to use the phone for help, TC Engle noticed my stalled car and me walking.Even though she had her 6-year-old and 6-month-old children in her van, she stopped and let me use her mobile phone to call my husband.I was amazed at the knowledge she had about a car as she used my jumper cables to see if it would start.

Editor, Times-Union:I have been invited to be the keynote speaker at Goshen College’s annual Martin Luther King breakfast.

- Breast Cancer Breast Cancer Editor, Times-Union: To Karen Gianotti.I have no idea who you are or what your medical credentials are but I did notice that you didn't sign your letter as Dr.or M.D.I don't know where you came up with the idea that a "first pregnancy that ends naturally in a birth" gives some sort of protection from breast cancer, but I find that sort of statement far more dangerous that the cartoon you were criticizing.

Editor, Times-Union:I have been under the care of Dr, Goksel for two years.

Editor, Times-Union:Never can it be said that THE PEOPLE are “silent”... around these parts at any rate.

- World War II - Sesquicentennial - Artificial Flowers - Sesqui Success - Depositions Available - Road Safety - CCS Says Thanks - Parade Success - Left Wing World War II Editor, Times-Union: World War II was a very long one - the word "world" is pertinent in this statement. But we had good reason for that war - a despot named Hitler who wanted to take over the world.

Editor, Times-Union: It is a pathetic state of affairs when our Indiana child welfare system (DCS) is so inept and understaffed that six endangered children under their watch have died at the hands of parents or guardians.

Editor, Times-Union:I see the corporate media has decided who it wishes to be Mr. Congressman in the 3rd district.

- Red Lights On U.S.30 - Girl Scouts - Carolina Flag - What's A Senior to Do? - Cemetery Monument - Missing Smelser - Smelser Resignation - Miner Lumber Red Lights On U.S.30 Editor, Times-Union: Once again while waiting to pull out onto U.S.30 and head westward to work another semi-truck barreled through a "RED" light.Had I not been aware of this common occurrence I probably would have pulled out into its path. The fellow next to me started to do so and was about to become a big bulls-eye for the oncoming truck until I honked at him and he fortunately put it in reverse and got out of the way.

- Just Get Saved - A Tribute - Illegal Aliens - Heating - Animal Populations Just Get Saved Editor, Times-Union: Ref: Steven R.Frantz You said, according to the paper, the "War isn't a spiritual battle ...."Ultimately, you do not know your Bible. Every car manufacturer gives us a manual (Bible) so to get the best service from the new car.Our God, Creator has given us a manual (Bible) so we may have an "abundant life."John 10:10.

Editor, Times-Union:I am amused at the debate over abolishing the business personal property tax and reducing the corporate income tax.

Editor, Times-Union:The past and current town board members are distinguished for being responsible for many recent noteworthy causes and events.
