Letters To The Editor

Editor, Times-Union:Educators who work daily to teach and develop 94 percent of Indiana's school-age population are concerned about the future of providing school services in tight economic times.

Editor, Times-Union:This is time for “we the people’s” voice about the real purpose of government service. As a nation, we the people are taken aback about a government association who was caught with poor manners and poor handling of the public’s money. Why would such an association abandon constraint in monetary policy? Then gadabout at taxpayers’ expense. I mean a huge sum of money.

I am Jerry Nelson, running for one of five positions on the Winona Lake Town Council.

Editor, Times-Union:I'm an 18-year-old attending WCHS as a senior this year.

Kosciusko Silent NO More Urgent Alert.

Editor, Times-Union: I was a bit surprised to see the flag of a communist slave state flying in Pierceton at Paragon Medical company. I wonder if the owners are super patriot Republicans?

Editor, Times-Union:Everyone talks about how the health care law is illegal and should be overturned. Mitt Romney say its wrong but this law is just like the one he put in place when he was governor. If he wants to repeal this law, then what is he planning to replace it with? He shouldn’t yell change without a plan, or is it he does not care for the lower class people?

Editor, Times-Union:After listening to what was said by the Pope and others on TV the other day, it has caused me to come up with some questions:

- Purse Returned - YMCA Says Thanks - School Board Purse Returned Editor, Times-Union: Yesterday, Aug.21, I did a really dumb thing - I have done some other dumb stuff, but not too recently! I did a huge shopping at Wal-Mart, took my cart load and put it in the trunk of my car and drove home.I pulled in the garage, reached for my purse - not there! Oops! I left it in the parking lot at the shopping center - not good! I headed back to town, with my frozen food melting in the trunk, imagining the worst, but hoping for the best! My first fear was that I had flattened my bag as I drove away.My second, of course, was that I would never see it or any of the contents again.Well, neither of these things happened.

- Daylight Savings - Daylight Savings Again - Whitko Jazz - Underage Use Of Tobacco - Hitchhiking - Census Results - Thanks To Firemen Daylight Savings Editor, Times-Union: I look forward to your …

Editor, Times-Union:I am writing this letter to encourage voters in Kosciusko County to vote for Rocky Goshert as sheriff.

- Likes Winona Lake - Iraq Involvement - War On Drugs - Justice - Great Game Likes Winona Lake Editor, Times-Union: My family moved to Winona Lake about a year and a half ago. I catch myself thinking …

- Red Light Running - Bush Knew About 9-11 Before It Happened Red Light Running Editor, Times-Union: I was heartened to see David Kolbe's letter addressing a deadly community issue that so many of us are aware of in a tragic way.I agree that this carnage must come to an end, and I agree with the steps that Mr.Kolbe suggests must be done. Any of our local officers can tell you about the daunting task of personally patrolling each of those US 30 intersections 24 hours per day.Couple that with the fact that many times, during the few minutes that it takes for an officer to stop and cite a red light offender, other offenders run the same light! More times than not, officers must put themselves at risk as they chase these offenders.

Editor, Times-Union:In his tear-filled resignation press conference, Mark Souder asserts that he wants to regain the trust of the community.

Editor, Times-Union:Do you text while you drive? Have you been in a car with someone who was texting and driving? Did you take the phone from them? Were you scared? Here are some reasons why you shouldn’t text and drive.

Editor, Times-Union:I am a 35-year-old male currently residing in a suburban town outside of Atlanta deep in the heart of the "Bible belt." I, who was born at Warsaw's Murphy Medical Center, am visiting my 77-year-old grandmother who loves me unconditionally.

Editor, Times-Union:In response to Ashley Black's letter concerning April being Organ Donation Awareness month, I would also like to ask everyone to consider organ/tissue donation.

Editor, Times-Union:Nobody appreciates the sight of our county snowplows barreling down the roads or seeing the bottomless potholes being filled any more than I do.

Editor, Times-Union:Concerning St. Anne's:

Editor, Times-Union:My name is Ashley. One week ago my stepmother took her dogs out for a walk in the yard.

Editor, Times-Union:My wife and I are now retired and living in Fort Myers, Fla.

- Molesting - Rebate Molesting Editor, Times-Union: This is in response to Kerry Mills' letter published on March 17 about stereotyping gays with molestation. Kerry, a child molester can play any role within a community or a family.Regardless of their supposed sexual preference, straight or gay, a child molester is a sick, sick individual who needs serious help. Committing such a devastating act against an innocent child who knows only to trust his molester can be worse than committing any other crime against the child. This child will live with, and struggle with, the scars that this molester has permanently etched in his mind for the rest of his life. The child has lost confidence, trust and worst of all, his innocence.

Editor, Times-Union:In response to Mrs. Collins' letter to the editor printed in the Sept. 16 issue of the Times-Union, ...

Editor, Times-Union:I could not see the insanity in my life for a long time. Nearly 19 years now to be exact. Wish I could say I clearly remember them, unfortunately I don’t.I’m now 33, turning 34 this year. Currently lying in my bunk at our county’s lock-up. Been here 10 months. In two months I get to experience my first trip to the “big house.” I will spend another nine months there.

Editor, Times-Union:In a previous letter to the editor, “Supporting the Local Economy” Sept. 6, I made mention of the empty retail storefronts at the Big R, Kmart, Carson’s and Walmart shopping plazas and how they need to be filled again as part of keeping the local economy of Kosciusko County vibrant.
